I would add to this list another possible combination. The PAS16 and a
Turtle Beach Maui wavetable board. It does require 2 boards in the
system, but compatibility issues are very few. The PAS16 also has less
noise (my opinion with some facts) than the SB16. The Maui has 2MB of
samples, and can have up to 8MB for user samples. The PAS16 can be gotten
for around $80.00, the Maui for $130.00 (in California). This gives DOOM
stereo sound, General MIDI compatibility, and a low amount of noise. My
setup is actually a Memphis/Maui combination. Works great. The Maui card
does sound better than the 1MB GUS, and most people who have heard both
agree. Just my $.02 also....better start looking for my asbestos suit :).
