No doubt! Guys, your AWE32's and Waveblaster may sound awesome! But until
you've spent $750.00 on a Roland GM processor (SC 55 mk II) you haven't
heard didley! And yes, starting with 1.4(?) SBs do surround! It's cool!
Of course, my SC has always pushed surround for the music. It also pushes
my powered sub. It even has a remote control! (slobber)
I know this sounds like a flame, but really, it isn't. I _love_ my
SB-16 ASP for digital audio. I heard that Doom supports the SB AWE-32 in
native mode. I assume that this means Doom does 32-bit digital audio.
If this is true, then I'm pissed 'cuz that would mean that Doom does 8-bit,
and 32 bit, but not 16!! Further, although I do own an external Roland
MPU-401 MIDI interface, I use the SB-16asp with the MIDI kit.
I won't buy an AWE-32 until I find out that I can tell it NOT to do it's
own MIDI, but instead just emulate the MPU-401 UART like the SB-16asp.
What kind of frigging nut pays $750 for a GM processor when he has no
intention of making music? I DO! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! (maniacle laughter)
I'm funny that way!
