  5. Ever wondered what to do with all those small bits and pieces of
  6. information that seem to accumulate daily, piling ever deeper on
  7. your desktop and hard disk?  Have you ever wished you had a small
  8. program to pull all those seemingly invaluable snippets of knowledge
  9. together into one place where they are easily accessible?  If so, then
  10. Jot may be the solution for you.

  12. Jot is a small notepad type program that helps with the organization
  13. and management of small amounts of textual information through the use
  14. of multiple files, each containing multiple notes.  With Jot, you can
  15. place any related information together in one file, create as many
  16. individual notes as you need and configure the file or note to be displayed
  17. in almost any way you wish.

  59. Jot is a fully functional shareware program and has not been disabled
  60. in any way.  However, if not registered within 30 days, drag and drop,
  61. global find and printing functions will cease to work until Jot is registered.

  69. Requirements:

  71. Jot is written in VX-Rexx and requires the file VROBJ.DLL, 
  72. Version 2.14 or later, and that Rexx support be installed on 
  73. your system.

  75. Installation:
  76. =====================================
  77. Unzip the files in a directory of your choice then run 
  78. "Install.cmd" from an OS/2 window.  A program object 
  79. will be created on your desktop that you can then move 
  80. to anywhere you like.

  82. When first run, Jot will configure itself and create it's own .ini
  83. file in the installation directory.

  85. If you are upgrading from a previous version of Jot, simply copy all of the files
  86. in this archive into your current Jot directory overwriting any files already there.

  88. Other Stuff
  89. =====================================
  90. Jot is intended for use with small notes and files.  I've had
  91. notes as large as 500K and files as large as 2 meg but the 
  92. bigger they get, the slower things go and can even bog the 
  93. whole system down.  I've considered adding a function to check 
  94. for and limit these sizes but so far, I'm undecided as to its 
  95. necessity considering the purpose of the program.  A dozen or 
  96. two screens of text seem to work quite well so if possible, try to 
  97. keep your notes within this limit.  If you feel like experimenting
  98. and pushing the limits on note size, I'd love to hear of your experience.

  100. Usual Shareware Notice

  102. Jot is shareware, NOT freeware.  It is a fully functional 
  103. program and is not crippled in any way.  You can use it 
  104. for 30 guilt free days to check it out and decide if it's 
  105. what you want.  Throw it onto your system, push it's buttons, 
  106. tweak it's settings, create and delete notes on all your 
  107. favorite subjects, use it and abuse it, whatever you like.  
  108. After those 30 guilt free days, you should either register the 
  109. program or remove it from your system.

  111. Permission is granted to redistribute the Jot archive in an 
  112. unaltered condition for a nominal copying charge only.  All 
  113. rights are reserved by the author, Jacqueline Wells.

  115. Jot is only $15.00 which entitles you to free upgrades through
  116. version 1.99.  See the file "Register.txt" for more information 
  117. on registering Jot.
