  11. DESCRIPTION
  12.  
  13. One of the following error messages is displayed at Diskette 1 while 
  14. installing OS/2 on an IBM PS/2 9585 computer:
  15.  
  16. * OS/2 Warp:
  17.  
  18.     OS/2 is unable to operate your hard disk or diskette drive.
  19.  
  20. * OS/2 2.x:
  21.  
  22.     The system cannot find the file 'A:\COUNTRY.SYS'. The device
  23.     driver, program or data file is not located in the path or path
  24.     specified for it in the config.sys file. Install this file in
  25.     the correct directory, or correct the appropriate config.sys
  26.     file statement. The system is stopped. Correct the preceding
  27.     error and restart system.
  28.  
  29. The diskette-drive light stays on, and pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del has no 
  30. effect. The system must be turned off and then turned back on.

  32. Note: This problem is particularly troublesome because at the first
  33.       sign of trouble during OS/2 installation, users remark-out (REM)
  34.       all unneeded drivers in the CONFIG.SYS file; for example,
  35.       BASEDEV=IBM1*.ADD. This should be a line of action because the
  36.       PS/2 9585 is a Micro Channel system. However, if the statement
  37.       BASEDEV=IBM1FLPY.ADD is remarked-out, OS/2 installation will fail
  38.       with one of the above error messages.

  40. RESOLUTION
  41.  
  42. Make sure the REM in front of BASEDEV=IBM1FLPY.ADD is removed in the 
  43. CONFIG.SYS file. If the line was deleted, restore it. If there are no 
  44. other problems, the installation will work.
