TITLE: Removing ATI's drivers from an OS/2 2.1 System
DESCRIPTION OF SYMPTOMS:
Removal of the ATI drivers for all Mach 32 and Mach 8 video cards
Video Cards which could have these drivers.

ATI Graphics Ultra+ Mach 32
ATI Graphics Ultra Pro Mach 32
ATI Ultra LX Pro
ATI LX (Vesa)
ATI AXO (PCI)
SUMMARY OF RESOLUTION:
Summary of the Steps to remove the ATI drivers.
1. Selective install VGA support.
2. Edit the config.sys file and remove all ATI, Ultra,
Mach32, and Mach8 references.
3. Remove all ATI files from the OS2\INSTALL directory
- except for the PSATI.DSC file
4. Remove all ATI files from the root directory.
5. Reboot the system, it will come up in VGA support.
6. Selective install of 8514, if desired and monitor will
support it.
Note: If the service pak has been installed, you will have to
reinstall it.
DETAILS OF RESOLUTION:
Detail of the Steps to remove the ATI Drivers
1. Selective install of VGA support.
a. Open the System Setup folder
b. Start the Selective Install icon
c. Select Primary Display Box, when the install program
opens.
d. Press the OK button, which will bring up another window.
e. Press the INSTALL button.
d. Follow the steps to finish the Selective Install
f. Do Not Shut the System down yet!!!
2. Edit the CONFIG.SYS file.
a. Open an OS/2 window or fullscreen
b. Type "E CONFIG.SYS". The editor will start with the
CONFIG.SYS file loaded into it.
c. Press CTRL+F, to bring up the Find window
d. Enter "ATI" into the Find: box.
e. TYPE "REM " at the front of each line that has ATI
in it. This excludes the LIBPATH statement.
1. For the LIBPATH statement, just remove the
reference from the statement.
Example
LIBPATH=.;C:\;C:\ULTRA;C:\OS2\DLL;.....
change to
LIBPATH=.;C:\;C:\OS2\DLL;......
f. Make sure the following statements are in the
CONFIG.SYS.
DEVINFO=SCR,VGA,C:\OS2\VIOTBL.DCP
SET VIDEO_DEVICES=VIO_VGA
SET VIO_VGA=DEVICE(BVHVGA)
DEVICE=C:\OS2\MDOS\VVGA.SYS
g. Save the CONFIG.SYS and exit the application
3. Remove the ATI files from the OS2\INSTALL directory
1. Type "CD OS2\INSTALL" at the OS2 command prompt
2. Type "REN PSATI.DSC PSATI.OLD"
3. Type "DEL *ATI*.DSC"
4. Type "REN PSATI.OLD PSATI.DSC"
4. Remove the ATI files from the root directory
a. Type "CD \" at the OS2 command prompt
b. Type "DEL *ATI*.*"
c. Type "EXIT"
5. Shutdown and restart the system in the proper manner
6. Selective install of the 8514
Note: You need a monitor capable of running in 1024x768x256
a. Open the System Setup folder
b. Start the Selective install
c. Select Primary Display
d. Select INSTALL, this will open another PM window.
e. Select 8514, and then press OK
f. Select INSTALL
g. Follow the prompts
h. After the install is complete, s
