  5. TITLE: Removing ATI's drivers from an OS/2 2.1 System
  6.  
  7. DESCRIPTION OF SYMPTOMS:
  8.     Removal of the ATI drivers for all Mach 32 and Mach 8 video cards
  9.  
  10.      Video Cards which could have these drivers.

  13.      ATI 8514 Ultra            Mach 8
  14.      ATI Graphics Ultra        Mach 8
  15.      ATI Graphics Vantage      Mach 8
  16.      ATI Graphics Ultra+       Mach 32
  17.      ATI Graphics Ultra Pro    Mach 32
  18.      ATI Ultra LX Pro
  19.      ATI LX (Vesa)

  22. SUMMARY OF RESOLUTION:
  23.     Summary of the Steps to remove the ATI drivers.
  24.         1.  Selective install VGA support.
  25.         2.  Edit the config.sys file and remove all ATI, Ultra,
  26.             Mach32, and Mach8 references.
  27.         3.  Remove all ATI files from the OS2\INSTALL directory
  28.             - except for the PSATI.DSC file
  29.         4.  Remove all ATI files from the root directory.
  30.         5.  Reboot the system, it will come up in VGA support.
  31.         6.  Selective install of 8514, if desired and monitor will
  32.             support it.
  33.         Note: If the service pak has been installed, you will have to
  34.               reinstall it.

  36. DETAILS OF RESOLUTION:
  37.     Detail of the Steps to remove the ATI Drivers
  38.         1.  Selective install of VGA support.
  39.             a.  Open the System Setup folder
  40.             b.  Start the Selective Install icon
  41.             c.  Select Primary Display Box, when the install program
  42.                 opens.
  43.             d.  Press the OK button, which will bring up another window.
  44.             e.  Press the INSTALL button.
  45.             d.  Follow the steps to finish the Selective Install
  46.             f.  Do Not Shut the System down yet!!!
  47.         2.  Edit the CONFIG.SYS file.
  48.             a.  Open an OS/2 window or fullscreen
  49.             b.  Type "E CONFIG.SYS". The editor will start with the
  50.                 CONFIG.SYS file loaded into it.
  51.             c.  Press CTRL+F, to bring up the Find window
  52.             d.  Enter "ATI" into the Find: box.
  53.             e.  TYPE "REM " at the front of each line that has ATI
  54.                 in it.  This excludes the LIBPATH statement.
  55.                 1.  For the LIBPATH statement, just remove the
  56.                     reference from the statement.

  59.                     LIBPATH=.;C:\;C:\ULTRA;C:\OS2\DLL;.....

  63.                     LIBPATH=.;C:\;C:\OS2\DLL;......
  64.             f.  Make sure the following statements are in the
  65.                 CONFIG.SYS.

  67.                 DEVINFO=SCR,VGA,C:\OS2\VIOTBL.DCP
  68.                 SET VIDEO_DEVICES=VIO_VGA
  69.                 SET VIO_VGA=DEVICE(BVHVGA)
  70.                 DEVICE=C:\OS2\MDOS\VVGA.SYS

  72.             g.  Save the CONFIG.SYS and exit the application
  73.         3.  Remove the ATI files from the OS2\INSTALL directory
  74.             1.  Type "CD OS2\INSTALL" at the OS2 command prompt
  75.             2.  Type "REN PSATI.DSC PSATI.OLD"
  76.             3.  Type "DEL *ATI*.DSC"
  77.             4.  Type "REN PSATI.OLD PSATI.DSC"
  78.         4.  Remove the ATI files from the root directory
  79.             a.  Type "CD \" at the OS2 command prompt
  80.             b.  Type "DEL *ATI*.*"
  81.             c.  Type "EXIT"
  82.         5.  Shutdown and restart the system in the proper manner
  83.         6.  Selective install of the 8514
  84.             Note: You need a monitor capable of running in 1024x768x256
  85.             a.  Open the System Setup folder
  86.             b.  Start the Selective install
  87.             c.  Select Primary Display
  88.             d.  Select INSTALL, this will open another PM window.
  89.             e.  Select 8514, and  then press OK
  90.             f.  Select INSTALL
  91.             g.  Follow the prompts
  92.             h.  After the install is complete, s

  95.              reinstall it.
