  10. This fax is designed for installing from the B:  with 3.5 inch
  11. diskette, either BLUE or SALMON colored diskettes.
  12. **************************************************************

  14. Customer may change his CMOS or BIOS setup and switch cables
  15. on the floppy drives.
  16.  
  17. For COUNTRY.SYS error message on diskette #1 while redirecting:
  18.   Check cables to verify if there are correctly switched
  19.   Check the CMOS for necessary changes for switching drives
  20.  
  21. If problems or questions occur while doing this, CONTACT THE
  22. VENDOR of the system.

  25. Customer can download a redirection diskette from BBS or
  26. CompuServe.  To do this you will need PKUNZIP and LDF.COM.
  27.  
  28.      For BLUE diskettes files to download:
  29.            PKUNZIP  (download it if you do not have it)
  30.            INS21L.ZIP
  31.            LDF.COM
  32.  
  33.      For SALMON or GREEN diskettes files to download:
  34.            PKUNZIP   (download it if you do not have it)
  35.            INS21M.ZIP
  36.            LDF.COM
  37.  
  38. Each file has a readme that gives instructions on how to use
  39. the files you have downloaded.
  40.  
  41. PKUNZIP is addressed shortly after logging on and will give
  42. you the option to download it.

  44. If you are using the IBM BBS, 919-517-0001, files are located:

  48. If you are using CompuServe, files are located:

  53. ~~~~INSTALLING FROM a 3.5 B DRIVE:
  54.  
  55. This document is intended to address installing OS/2 when
  56. your 3.5" drive is your B drive and your OS/2 package is 3.5
  57. diskettes.  The following choices are available:
  58.  
  59. 1- Exhchange the OS/2 package for a 5.25" version.
  60.  
  61.    **NOTE:  Only choice supported by IBM Service Organization.
  62.  
  63. 2- You can download the images of 5.25" disks for installation
  64.    from B: drive.  If your OS/2 2.1 disks have a BLUE label then
  65.    you need to download INS21L.ZIP.  If your OS/2 2.1 disks have
  66.    SALMON or GREEN colored labels then download INS21M.ZIP.

  68. 3- Create 5.25" OS/2 bootable disks using follwing procedure and
  69.    install OS/2 from drive B:.
  70.  
  71. 4- Change your cables internally AND CMOS to reflect physical
  72.    changes made.

  77. You will need DOS Debug utility, about 1.5MB space on the
  78. hard drive and two 1.2MB 5.25" floppy disks.
  79.  
  80. Label one 5.25" floppy disk as "OS/2 v2.1 525DISK 0" and the
  81. other 5.25" floppy disk as "OS/2 v2.1 525DISK 1".

  83. Insert the disk marked 525DISK 1 in drive A:  and from DOS
  84. command prompt type,
  85.       C:\>FORMAT A:  /U <ENTER>
  86. When prompted for volume label type,
  87.       DISK 1 <ENTER>
  88. When prompted Format another diskette (Y/N)?
  89.       Y <ENTER>
  90. Remove the disk and insert 525DISK 0 in drive A:
  91.       <ENTER>
  92. When prompted for volume label DISK 0
  93.       <ENTER>
  94. When prompted Format another diskette (Y/N)?
  95.       N <ENTER>

  97. Insert the OS/2 v2.1 Installation Diskette in drive B:  and
  98.       C:\>DEBUG <ENTER>
  99.       -L DS:0 1 0 1 <ENTER>
  100.       -E 13 60 <ENTER>

  102.       -E 15 F9 <ENTER>
  103.       -E 16 07 <ENTER>

  115. Remove OS/2 Installation Diskette from drive B: and 525DISK0
  116. from drive A:.

  118. Insert 525DISK 1 in drive A:  and OS/2 DISK 1  in drive B:

  120.       C:\>COPY B:\*.* BINST <ENTER>
  121.       C:\>DEL BINST\BUNDLE <ENTER>
  122.       C:\>DEL BINST\SYSINST2.EXE <ENTER>
  123.       C:\>COPY BINST\*.* A:\ <ENTER>
  124.       C:\>ECHO SET OS2_SHELL=CMD.EXE>> A:\CONFIG.SYS <ENTER>
  125.       C:\>ECHO SET DISKETTESOURCE=B:\ >> A:\CONFIG.SYS <ENTER>

  128. You are done with creating 5.25" OS/2 v2.1 bootable disks.

  130. Insert 525DISK 0 in drive A:  and reboot your system.

  132. When prompted for Diskette 1, insert 525DISK 1 in drive A:

  134. Press <ENTER>
  135.  
  136. This will bring you to an A:\" prompt.

  140. Now insert OS/2 Diskette 1 in drive B:  and on A:  prompt type,
  141.       B:\SYSINST2 <ENTER>

  145. OS/2 installation will start from drive B:
  146.  
  147. You will be prompted to insert OS/2 v2.1 Installation diskettes
  148. in drive B:.
  149.  
  150. Leave the 525DISK 1 in drive A:  until you are prompted to remove
  151. all disks for a reboot.
