  1. SERVICEPAK XR06110 FOR THE IBM DEVELOPER'S TOOLKIT FOR OS/2 2.0

  6. GENERAL INSTALLATION INFORMATION
  7.  
  8.    Before installing ServicePak XR06110, run
  9.    CHKDSK /F on your OS/2 partition to ensure that
  10.    your system does not currently have any
  11.    corrupted files.  To run CHKDSK:
  12.  
  13.    1.  Insert the base operating system
  14.        Installation Diskette (not the ServicePak
  15.        XR06110 Diskette 1) into drive A.
  16.    2.  Shut down and restart the system.
  17.    3.  When the IBM screen appears, remove the
  18.        Installation Diskette and insert the base
  19.        operating system Diskette 1; then press
  20.        Enter.
  21.    4.  When the Welcome screen appears, press Esc
  22.        to display the command prompt.
  23.    5.  Remove Diskette 1 and insert base operating
  24.        system Diskette 2.
  25.    6.  Type "CHKDSK x: /F" (where x is the drive
  26.        letter of your OS/2 system partition).
  27.    7.  Remove Diskette 2.  Shut down and restart
  28.        the system.

  31. SERVICEPAK XR06110 INSTALLATION
  32.  
  33.    When installing the ServicePak XR06110
  34.    diskettes, you can choose from the following
  35.    three procedures:
  36.  
  37.    o   Procedure 1 installs all changes to all
  38.        partitions.  Use this procedure if you want
  39.        to apply the service updates to all the
  40.        partitions that contain the 2.0 Toolkit.
  41.  
  42.    o   Procedure 2 installs all changes to
  43.        selected partitions.  Use this procedure if
  44.        you want to apply all the service updates
  45.        to only some of the partitions that contain
  46.        the 2.0 Toolkit.
  47.  
  48.    o   Procedure 3 installs only some of the
  49.        changes.  Use this procedure if you want to
  50.        apply only some of the service updates to
  51.        any partition that contains the 2.0
  52.        Toolkit.
  53.  
  54.    Notes:
  55.  
  56.    1.  You should not stop the update process
  57.        after it starts.
  58.  
  59.    2.  When you install, you may receive a message
  60.        indicating that files on the hard disk are
  61.        newer than those being installed.  Select
  62.        OK when prompted with this error message.
  63.  
  64.    3.  Before installing the 2.0 Toolkit
  65.        ServicePak XR06110, you must have OS/2 2.0
  66.        ServicePak XR06100 and the IBM Developer's
  67.        Toolkit for OS/2 2.0 installed.
  68.  
  69.    4.  Toolkit folders will be updated.
  70.  
  71.    5.  CP Reference has been replaced with CP Guide and
  72.        Reference. You must update your PROGREF20
  73.        environment variable in CONFIG.SYS to be able
  74.        use the new online reference.

  77. Procedure 1:  Installing All Changes to All Partitions
  78.  
  79.    1.  Select an OS/2 command-prompt object from
  80.        the Command Prompts folder in the OS/2
  81.        System folder.
  82.    2.  Insert the ServicePak XR06110 Diskette 1
  83.        into drive A.
  84.    3.  Type "A:\SERVICE" at the OS/2 command
  85.        prompt; then press Enter.
  86.    4.  Select OK to display a list of the 2.0
  87.        Toolkit products installed on your system.
  88.        (For example, if the 2.0 Toolkit is in more
  89.        than one partition, the 2.0 Toolkit product
  90.        will be listed and selected more than
  91.        once.)
  92.    5.  Select Service and then select Continue to
  93.        update all directories in which the 2.0
  94.        Toolkit resides.  If you do not want to
  95.        update all directories, select Cancel.
  96.    6.  Follow the instructions on the screen to
  97.        complete the installation.
  98.    7.  See section below on updating CONFIG.SYS

  100. Procedure 2:  Installing All Changes to Selected Partitions
  101.  
  102.    1.  Select an OS/2 command-prompt object from
  103.        the Command Prompts folder in the OS/2
  104.        System folder.
  105.    2.  Insert the ServicePak XR06110 Diskette 1
  106.        into drive A.
  107.    3.  Type "A:\SERVICE" at the OS/2 command
  108.        prompt; then press Enter.
  109.    4.  Select OK to display a list of the 2.0
  110.        Toolkit products installed on your system.
  111.        (For example, if the 2.0 Toolkit is in more
  112.        than one partition, the 2.0 Toolkit product
  113.        will be listed and selected more than
  114.        once.)
  115.    5.  Deselect one or more products that you do
  116.        not want to update.
  117.    6.  Select Service and then select Continue to
  118.        update all directories in which the 2.0
  119.        Toolkit resides.  If you do not want to
  120.        update all directories in each selected
  121.        product, select Cancel.
  122.    7.  Follow the instructions on the screen to
  123.        complete the installation.
  124.    8.  See section below on updating CONFIG.SYS

  126. Procedure 3:  Installing Only Some of the Changes
  127.  
  128.    Warning: If you do not apply the service
  129.    updates to all directories, some of the Toolkit
  130.    applications may not run after you install
  131.    ServicePak XR06110.  This could happen because
  132.    an update in one directory might be dependent
  133.    on an update in another directory.  If this
  134.    happens, you will have to re-apply ServicePak
  135.    XR06110 and include those directories you
  136.    omitted.  If a message appears indicating that
  137.    the selected products are already at the new
  138.    levels, select OK to continue.
  139.  
  140.    1.  Select an OS/2 command-prompt object from
  141.        the Command Prompts folder in the OS/2
  142.        System folder.
  143.    2.  Insert the ServicePak XR06110 Diskette 1
  144.        into drive A.
  145.    3.  Type "A:\SERVICE" at the OS/2 command
  146.        prompt; then press Enter.
  147.    4.  Select OK to display a list of the Toolkit
  148.        products installed on your system.  (For
  149.        example, if the 2.0 Toolkit is in more than
  150.        one partition, the 2.0 Toolkit product will
  151.        be listed and selected more than once.)
  152.    5.  Deselect one or more products that you do
  153.        not want to update.
  154.    6.  To specify the directories you want to
  155.        update, do the following:
  156.        a.  Select Select directories.
  157.        b.  Deselect the directories you do not
  158.            want to update.  If you have backup
  159.            directories on a drive that is not
  160.            listed and you want the updates applied
  161.            to those directories, select Select
  162.            drives, select the directories, and
  163.            then select OK.
  164.        c.  Select OK.
  165.        d.  Select Service and then select Continue
  166.            to update all changes to selected
  167.            directories.
  168.    7.  Follow the instructions on the screen to
  169.        complete the installation.

  174. UPDATING CONFIG.SYS
  175.  
  176.    1.  Using a text editor, edit CONFIG.SYS.
  177.    2.  Modify the statement as shown below:

  179.          SET PROGREF20=CPGREF1.INF+CPGREF2.INF+CPGREF3.INF
  180.  
  181.    3.  Save the changes to CONFIG.SYS
  182.    4.  Shut down and restart the system.
