  4. The hottest little LAN management tool just got better! IBM LAN NetView*
  5. Management Utilities for OS/2* (LMU) is an upgrade from the popular LAN
  6. Management Utilities/2 (LMU/2). This new product, available on November
  7. 26th, contains significant functional enhancements (Macintosh* and
  8. DOS/Windows* support, SNMP gateway support, etc). LMU can be run as
  9. either a standalone product or as an integrated LAN NetView framework
  10. application.

  12. LMU is a comprehensive suite of applications for managing networks
  13. ranging from small print/file server LANs to large distributed
  14. client/server enterprise environments. LMU can also be seamlessly
  15. integrated with other NetView platforms such as LAN NetView,
  16. NetView/6000, and NetView/390. LMU uses a non-dedicated OS/2 workstation
  17. to manage both servers and requesters in IBM LAN Server and Novell
  18. NetWare* networks. LMU performs asset, configuration, operations,
  19. performance, and fault management functions.

  21. Specifically, LMU provides:

  23. - Configuration and asset management that can determine exactly what
  24. hardware (memory, disk, adapters, etc) and software (applications,
  25. syslevels, config.sys data, etc) are installed on your PCs - without
  26. removing PC covers or leaving your desk. Data can be saved and reports
  27. can be produced using DB2/2.

  29. - A remote command line interface that can send commands/jobs to PCs
  30. running OS/2 or DOS/Windows - and have the results displayed at your
  31. workstation.

  33. - Operations management that can schedule a job to run anytime,
  34. anywhere, and even any frequency (one-time, hourly, weekly, annually,
  35. etc) you choose.

  37. - A colorful/graphical representation of your LAN that lets you see the
  38. status of your workstations and servers at a glance.

  40. - Fault management that can identify potential network problems, notify
  41. you of the situation & location via pager, and automatically initiate
  42. pre-determined corrective actions - all before your users even know
  43. there's a problem.

  46. NetView/390) platforms for a common "look and feel" across all your
  47. system management products.
