{SMOOTHSTART SERVICES FOR IBM SOFTWARE SERVERS PROVIDED BY}

March 12, 1996
Today, Availability Services announces the following SmoothStart
Services for IBM Software Servers:
{o IBM SmoothStart Service for OS/2* Warp Server}
Software installation services for OS/2 Warp Server solutions
as a domain, file/print, application, software, distribution,
or system management server in LAN systems or TCP/IP networks.
{o IBM SmoothStart Service for Directory and Security Server for AIX*}
Designed to assist the customer with planning, installation,
configuration, and operation of a DCE cell environment on an AIX
system to support DCE users and applications.
{o IBM SmoothStart Service for AIX Connections}
Provides a technical resource to help customers plan, install,
configure, and customize AIX connections on their RISC System/6000*
systems.
{o IBM SmoothStart Service for Internet Connection Server for OS/2}
Designed to assist customers with installation of the IBM Internet
Connection Server for OS/2 Warp. Helps customers develop an
installation plan for the Web Server, install and establish the Web
Server in their environment, and create an initial home page and
up to four additional Web pages.
{o IBM SmoothStart Service for Internet Connection Secure Server}
{for AIX}
Provides installation of the Internet Connection Secure Server
product. Helps customers develop an installation plan for the
Web Server, install and establish the Web Server in their environ-
ment, create an initial home page and up to four additional
Web pages, and verify accessibility using an available browser.
This service includes the following components:
- Secure Web Server
- Secure Web Server administration
- Verifies customized Web pages using an available browser.
{o IBM SmoothStart Service for Database Server for OS/2}
Installation services for the following Database Server solutions
on the OS/2 platform:
- DB2* Database Server
- DDCS Gateway to an MVS* host.
{o IBM SmoothStart Service for Database Server for AIX}
Installation services for Database Management System (DBMS). This
service replaces the IBM DB2 for UNIX** Planning, and the DBS for
UNIX Installation and Configuration services previously announced
in Services Announcement 695-004, dated May 9, 1995.
{o IBM SmoothStart Service for Lotus Notes}
Installation services for Lotus Notes on the OS/2 Warp or AIX
Server platform. The base service includes Notes server
installation and setup and Notes client installation and
registration. Optional services include remote server access
configuration, server-to-server connectivity configuration,
and multi-protocol server configuration.
Note: IBM will team with Lotus Business Partners to provide the
Lotus solution for your customer(s).
{o IBM SmoothStart Service for Communications Server for OS/2}
Part of an offering package designed to address customers' needs
for installing and upgrading SNA-centric networks. This service
provides connectivity verification services for one SNA
communications server.
{o IBM SmoothStart Service for Communications Server for AIX}
Provides planning, installation, and customization required
to enable SNA network access in an AIX environment.
{o IBM SmoothStart Service for Transaction Server for OS/2, or}
{for AIX}
IBM CICS* SmoothStart for OS/2 and IBM CICS SmoothStart for AIX,
announced in Services Announcement 695-004, dated May 9, 1995,
have been renamed IBM SmoothStart Service for Transaction Server
for OS/2, or for AIX and have been enhanced to include the IBM
Transaction Server for OS/2 Warp Server, Version 4 products.
{o IBM SmoothStart Service for SystemView for AIX}
Renamed and enhanced, IBM SmoothStart Service for SystemView for
AIX is designed to provide a base level of functionality for
network management operations, software distribution, and
configuration management.
Planned availability for these services is March 26, 1996, with
the exception of IBM SmoothStart Service for Directory and Security
Server for AIX and IBM SmoothStart Service for Communications Server
for AIX, OS/2 which will be available during 1996.
