  19. Subject: Installing WinFax Error (GPF or UAE)
  20.  
  21. Situation:
  22. ==========
  23. When installing WinFax PRO 2.0, the error message "General Protection
  24. Fault" or "Unrecoverable Application Error" appears.
  25.  
  26. Solution:
  27. =========
  28. During installation, WinFax performs several tests to determine the
  29. type of fax/modem installed. Some fax/modems respond by sending WinFax
  30. too much data, which causes the error.
  31.  
  32. To get around this situation:
  33.  
  34. 1.  Install WinFax on a COM port your fax/modem is not on.
  35.  
  36. 2   After installation, run Windows.
  37.  
  38. 3.  Open the Windows Control Panel.
  39.  
  40. 4.  Select the Printers icon.
  41.  
  42. 5.  Select the WinFax printer driver.
  43.  
  44. 6.  Click on the Connect button (Configure button in Windows 3.0), and
  45.     change the COM port to the correct one.
