The Page Layout Part is a scrollable, multi-page container part which
allows you to see, on screen, how a document will look when it is printed.
Thus it gives you control of the size, position, and Z-order of its
embedded parts. The Page Layout Part is only allowed to be a Root Part.

Figure 124 shows the Page Layout Part that has two embedded parts, the
Text Part and the 2D Graphics Part embedded inside the Text Part.

Figure 124. Page Layout Part

The Page Layout part allows you to select the printer queue to which the
document will be printed. Printer Setup is available in the Document
submenu.

The Page Layout Part has more features that help you to arrange embedded
parts, such as Alignment Grid, Rulers and Margins that can be made visible
or invisible.

Another important function of the Page Layout Part is arranging the
Z-order (front-to-back list) of its embedded parts. This means that you
can place one part in front another part, and be able to change their
position so that the second part is in front of the first part.

The Page Layout Part has the ability of having more than one page, and
each page is a separate frame. You can insert and delete pages.

The Page Layout Part implements frame negotiation. Frame negotiation is
the process whereby an embedded part and its containing part agree on the
what frames the embedded part can have. It only allows embedded frames to
grow to the margins, and will grant additional frames on subsequent pages.
For instance, if you embed the Text Part within the Page Layout Part, as
you type in text, the Text Part will will request additional frame space
for every additional line you type. It will automatically add additional
frames on new pages if the text is larger than one page. The Text Part
prompts to request an additional display frame, which the Page Layout part
will then grant on the next page. The Page Layout part will grant space
horizontally until it reaches the point where it has run into the margins,
whereby it will deny the request at this point.
