  4. Welcome to the PmBrowse Help Facility. 
  5.  
  6. Help is available on all aspects of PmBrowse.  Every window presented to you by 
  7. the PmBrowse program contains either a Help menu pull-down or a Help button. 
  8. Select Help whenever you are unclear about a particular aspect of PmBrowse or 
  9. if you would like additional information. 
  10.  
  11. Each window of the PmBrowse program has different help information associated 
  12. with it.  If you are unclear what a particular control does, highlight it then 
  13. press the F1 function key to receive information about that particular control.

  16. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2. PmBrowse Search Facility ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  18. PmBrowse provides a facility for searching the currently browsed file for a 
  19. given string. 
  20.  
  21. To search for a string, enter it in the entry field and press the OK button. 
  22. Options for the search may be set in the Options area. Options include: 
  23.  
  24. o Case sensitive search 
  25.  
  26.   If checked, the string will be searched for in a case sensitive manner. 
  27.  
  28. o Reverse search 
  29.  
  30.   If checked, PmBrowse will search the current file in the reverse direction. 
  31.

  33. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 3. PmBrowse Font Facility ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
  34.  
  35. PmBrowse provides a facility for selecting the font for use when browsing 
  36. files.  Not only can the font be selected, but you may also specify the size of 
  37. the font and the type of the font. 
  38.  
  39. The Font list contains all fonts installed on your system.  Refer to the OS/2 
  40. User's Guide for further information regarding the installation of additional 
  41. fonts if needed. 
  42.  
  43. The Size list contains all the sizes supported by the selected Font. As 
  44. expected, larger sizes produce larger fonts and smaller sizes produce smaller 
  45. fonts. 
  46.  
  47. The Type group contains many font types or attributes that can be selected when 
  48. displaying the fonts. 
  49.

  51. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4. PmBrowse Color Facility ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  53. PmBrowse provides a facility for selecting the colors for many of the fields of 
  54. the browse window. 
  55.  
  56. You may specify the Foreground and Background attributes of each Field of the 
  57. PmBrowse window.  The current settings of a selected field is displayed in the 
  58. Sample Text area.

  61. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 5. PmBrowse Print Facility ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  63. PmBrowse provides a facility for printing the currently browsed file.

  65. When printing a file, select the desired printer from the Available Printers 
  66. list then press the OK button.

  68. It is assumed that the printers listed are text-capable printers.

  70. PmBrowse will report any errors it might have copying the file to the specified 
  71. printer.

  84. The Open dialog is the standard open-file dialog.  It is used to select a file 
  85. for browsing.  If you have any questions about any of the entry fields of list 
  86. boxes, simply select them and press F1 for further help.

  91. A control is any device within a window which gives information or allows you 
  92. to select or edit options.  It is a general term for describing such devices as 
  93. list boxes, buttons, entry fields, radio buttons, check boxes, etc.

  98. The File pull-down contains menu items for loading files to browse, opening a 
  99. new browse window, printing a browsed file, copying marked text to the PM 
  100. clipboard, removing a file from a browse window, closing a browse window, and 
  101. exiting PmBrowse.

  106. Select the New file... menu item when you wish to load a new file for browsing.

  108. If the OPENDLG.DLL file (part of the OPENDLG PACKAGE from OS2TOOLS) is in a 
  109. directory specified along your LIBPATH you will be presented with a fully 
  110. functional Open File dialog in which you may enter the name of the file to be 
  111. browsed or look through your system for the file to browse. If OPENDLG.DLL is 
  112. not present along the LIBPATH, you will be asked to enter the file name to be 
  113. browsed in a less elaborate dialog.

  118. Select the Open window... menu item to create a new browse window.

  120. Currently, no more than 15 browse windows can be running simultaneously. 
  121. However, in reality, you may find that Presentation Manager will not be able to 
  122. create as many as 15 browse windows before exhausting PM resources.

  127. Select the Print file... menu item to be prompted for an LPT port in which to

  131. Print Manager will also prompt you for an LPT port in which to print the file.

  221. file icon the PmBrowse window will be minimized and therefore out of the way.

  223. If you often use drag and drop from PmBrowse then you will find this option 
  224. very helpful.

  229. Files often take a long time to load.  Since this is a fact of life, PmBrowse 
  230. loads large files in the background via a second thread so that you may 
  231. continue to do productive work while the file is fully loaded.  To be notified 
  232. via a beep when the file is fully loaded, select the Beep when file loaded menu 
  233. item.

  447.   This field corresponds to marked text displayed by the PmBrowse window.  Text

  449.   the mouse.

  451. o Line Numbers

  453.   PmBrowse has the ability to display line numbers when displaying text.  You 
  454.   may also set the color of this line number field.

  456. o Status Window 
  457.  
  458.   The Status Window is really not a window at all, but is instead part of the 
  459.   PmBrowse window frame.  It is located in the upper right hand area of the 
  460.   PmBrowse window and is used to display line number and other information.
