  5. What is Easy Professional Tools-Ezp2?
  6.  
  7. Easy Professional Tools-Ezp2 is a product of MaxWare.
  8. Ezp2 is a set of highly integratable utilities, should we 
  9. say PROGRAM OBJECTS, that supports multi-tasking operation, 
  10. file and text data management for OS/2 Workstation, 
  11. Client/Server application and Networking application 
  12. environment.

  14. This set of Ezp2 is a unique set of utilities containing 30 
  15. powerful program objects. This ShareWare version of Ezp2 is 
  16. fully fuctional for 30 days. After some evaluation periods, 
  17. you should consider sign up as a registered user or the 
  18. package will become limited functional.

  21. What can Ezp2 do for you?
  22.  
  23. Most of the Ezp2 commands help you work with routine files 
  24. and tasks management. 
  25. They are not only work individually; these "PROGRAM OBJECTS" 
  26. include integration tools and features to integrate multiple 
  27. programs to a powerful function. You can also easily 
  28. integrate this Ezp2 with REXX, GUI REXX or Basic command 
  29. processor to become a new set of function.

  32. What's NEW?

  34. o Most Ezp2 command supports the file name specification or 
  35. data from  file, pipe,  or Named pipe. So regular program 
  36. can work as a SERVER, like:
  37.   - "cp -- d: < file.lst" will copy files specified in a 
  38.     list
  39.  
  40. o NMPIPE, WAIT programs are integration tools for Multi-
  41. Task, Multi-Session, Client/Server and networking 
  42. application,

  44. o NMPIPE also can enable the communications between normal 
  45. OS/2 and DOS programs,
  46.  
  47. o CP is a smart copy, backup and compress program
  48.   "CP -U" and TAR let you exchange files with UNIX,
  49.   "CP --" and  WHERE are tools for daily backup,
  50.  
  51. o "GREP -rb" and WHERE are best tools to find the file or 
  52. things,

  54. o WAIT, NICE, and SLEEP provide synchronization for multi-
  55. tasks or networking program,

  57. o Event simple "TOUCH" program have new feature to select 
  58. the day or time to change the file's date,

  60. o And you can combine these tools with other OS/2 or DOS 
  61. programs to generate new functions,

  78. Ezp2 contains 29 powerful 32 bits OS/2 programs. Only VI.EXE 
  79. is a common program between Ezp2 and Ez2 tools set. Ez2 is a 
  80. 16 bits application set with most functions of Ezp2 that 
  81. support OS/2 and DOS.

  99. If you have purchased the OS/2 Ezp2 package, your software 
  100. support both FAT or HPFS file system on OS/2, OS/2 LAN or 
  101. Netware network files.

  104. Minimum Ezp2 requirements are 512K of user RAM, not 
  105. including RAM used by the operating system, and 1.4MB of 
  106. disk spaces.

  113. The installation disk in your Ezp2 package includes a file 
  114. named README.TXT - this file. You should read this file for 
  115. the latest information about this package.

  133. Disk Formats

  135.   Ezp2 is available on 3 1/2 inches double density floppy 
  136.   disks ( Maxware part number 052-002 )

  138.   To order the 5 1/4 inch option:

  140.   Just specify the part number when you first order Ezp2, 
  141.   or include $10 with your receipt of purchase to order
  142.   the optional 5 1/4 inch media ( MaxWare part number 052-
  143. 003)

  147. INSTALLATION
  148.

  150. To install from floppy diskette, please find the diskette 
  151. labeled 'INSTALL' and put it into floppy disk drive A, then 
  152. follow the instructions in the next section.

  154. To install from hard disk, after you unzip the ezp2_300.zip 
  155. file:
  156.  
  157. Type "SETUP" in the directory that contains the Ezp2 files. 
  158. You will be asked to give the SETUP program a complete drive 
  159. and full directory pathname, it will make a directory on 
  160. your hard disk and place the Ezp2 files in this new 
  161. directory.

  166. LEARNING Ezp2 COMMANDS:

  168. On-Line Help and Examples
  169.  
  170. Ezp2 has an on-line help facility. You do not have to look 
  171. in the manual to find out the features of commands. If you 
  172. need to find out about the 'ls' command, type:
  173.  
  174.    ls -?
  175.  
  176.   "cmd  -?"    to get Help
  177.  
  178. The "-?" by itself after the command name tell Ezp2 you want 
  179. to display the features of the command. Every utility of 
  180. Ezp2 supports on-line help in this manner.

  182. Stopping a Running Utility
  183.  
  184. To break into a running Ezp2 utility, you can press CTRL-C 
  185. or CTRL-BREAK.

  191.   cal      : display the selected month or whole year's calendar 
  192.   cat      : concatenate or display the file content
  193.   cmp       : compare two files
  194.   cp       : smart copy, backup or compress files 
  195.        : can copy multiple subdirectory tree and volume
  196.        : intelligently update the files
  197.            : also support UNIX compatible "COMPRESS" data
  198.   etime    : report the elapse time of program  execution
  199.   grep     : search the text or binary files for a pattern
  200.   head     : display the first few lines of the files
  201.   kill     : kill a running processor
  202.   klog     : execute a command with a logger
  203.   ls        : list the directory in selected format
  204.   mv        : move or rename either files or directories 
  205.   nice     : start a command with different priority
  206.   nmpipe   : create a named pipe and redirect the stdin/stdout to it
  207.              for OS/2, DOS, Window and network program
  208.   od        : display the file contents in selected format
  209.   pr        : print file in specified format
  210.   rm        : remove files or directories
  211.   sleep    : sleep for specified time
  212.   strings  : display the string in a file
  213.   sum      : sum of a file
  214.   tail     : display the last few lines of a file
  215.   tar        : archive files, UNIX compatible
  216.   tee        : duplicates the program output to both console and file
  217.   touch    : change the file date to selected date
  218.   wait     : wait for named pipe or files being updated
  219.   wc        : word count
  220.   where    : show where is the files or directories
  221.   which    : show which program will be used
  222.   vi       : visual editor
  223.   ex       : ex/vi editor

  228. Once you have registered you can get a counter set of 16 
  229. bits Ez2 program, Either through the on-line BBS, by mail. 
  230. or eMail.

  233. Ez2 are utilities for OS/2 and DOS:

  235. Ez2 are 29 portable programs for the OS/2 and DOS 
  236. environments. You can move files generated in OS/2 to DOS 
  237. and vice versa. You also can vi(ew) files in different 
  238. sessions at the same time in OS/2 environment to take 
  239. advantage of OS/2 multitasking features.

  242. so you have full command descriptions and examples right in 
  243. front of you when you need them.
