  4. ToDo is a sample application developed during a residency hosted by the Boca 
  5. Raton ITSC during October and November 1991.  The objective of this residency 
  6. was as follows: 
  7.  
  8.  o Develop a methodology for evaluating application development tools for the 
  9.    OS/2 V2.0 Workplace Shell. 
  10.  o Evaluate a number of tools by implementing the sample ToDo application. 
  11.  
  12.  The support of IPF by the various products is part of the evaluation exercise.

  15. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 2. Workplace Shell ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
  16.  
  17. The Workplace Shell is an implementation of the Workplace Environment defined 
  18. by the CUA 91 architecture.  Workplace objects represent physical objects which 
  19. users work with in real life.  These objects are represented graphically by 
  20. icons or bit maps.

  23. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 3. Bit maps ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ
  24.  
  25. A bit map is an array of data organised into rows and columns in which the bits 
  26. correspond to pixels on a raster output device (normally a screen). A bit map 
  27. can represent either a monochrome or colour image. Bit maps can be created 
  28. using the OS/2 Toolkit's Icon Editor.

  30.  This icon has been defined as ahypergraphic link. Double click on it and see 
  31.  what happens.

  34. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 4. Keys Help ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  36. ToDo keys 
  37.  
  38. The following keys can be used within the ToDo application: 
  39.  
  40.  Enter 
  41.            Starts the choice or action which is currently selected. 
  42.  
  43.  Esc 
  44.            Cancels the current pop-up window whithout saving any changes. 
  45.  
  46.  F1 
  47.            Displays help for the active panel or the field containing the 
  48.            selection cursor. This may be an action bar or a menu choice, a 
  49.            pop-up window, or a field within a pop-up window. 
  50.  
  51.  F3 
  52.            Closes the ToDo application. 
  53.  
  54.  Tab keys 
  55.            Move selection cursor between selectable fields in a pop-up window. 
  56.  
  57.  Cursor keys 
  58.            Move selection cursor up, down, and across selectable fields.

  63. This is the primary window for the todo list.

  68. This menubar item will allow:

  70.   1. Open as a todo list 
  71.  
  72.   2. Open as settings

  74.   3. Accept changes to the todo list 
  75.  
  76.   4. Print the todo list 
  77.   Open as a Todo List 
  78.  
  79.  This option will open the object as a todo list.

  82. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 7. Open as Settings ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  84. This option will open the object as a settings list.

  89. This option will accepts all changes made to the todo list and updates the 
  90. database.

  95. This option will print the todo list.  You can then take it home and read in 
  96. your bath.

  101. As the name of this field implies - you're dead if you don't complete the item 
  102. by this date.

  106.  
  107. A textual description of the item to be performed.  A new description can be 
  108. entered or an existing description can be altered.

  113. The default type is 'xxxxx'. Other types can be selected br scrolling.

  115. Note that the user cannot type into or change this field.

  118. ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ 13. Priority ΓòÉΓòÉΓòÉ

  120. Select the priority by spinning through the ring of choices.

  125. Set this checkbox on (by clicking with the mouse) when the item has been 
  126. completed.  A lot of satisfaction is gained from this action
