═══ 1. General Help for ToDo ═══ ToDo is a sample application developed during a residency hosted by the Boca Raton ITSC during October and November 1991. The objective of this residency was as follows: o Develop a methodology for evaluating application development tools for the OS/2 V2.0 Workplace Shell. o Evaluate a number of tools by implementing the sample ToDo application. The support of IPF by the various products is part of the evaluation exercise. ═══ 2. Workplace Shell ═══ The Workplace Shell is an implementation of the Workplace Environment defined by the CUA 91 architecture. Workplace objects represent physical objects which users work with in real life. These objects are represented graphically by icons or bit maps. ═══ 3. Bit maps ═══ A bit map is an array of data organised into rows and columns in which the bits correspond to pixels on a raster output device (normally a screen). A bit map can represent either a monochrome or colour image. Bit maps can be created using the OS/2 Toolkit's Icon Editor. This icon has been defined as ahypergraphic link. Double click on it and see what happens. ═══ 4. Keys Help ═══ ToDo keys The following keys can be used within the ToDo application: Enter Starts the choice or action which is currently selected. Esc Cancels the current pop-up window whithout saving any changes. F1 Displays help for the active panel or the field containing the selection cursor. This may be an action bar or a menu choice, a pop-up window, or a field within a pop-up window. F3 Closes the ToDo application. Tab keys Move selection cursor between selectable fields in a pop-up window. Cursor keys Move selection cursor up, down, and across selectable fields. ═══ 5. ToDo Main Screen ═══ This is the primary window for the todo list. ═══ 6. ToDo Menubar ═══ This menubar item will allow: 1. Open as a todo list 2. Open as settings 3. Accept changes to the todo list 4. Print the todo list Open as a Todo List This option will open the object as a todo list. ═══ 7. Open as Settings ═══ This option will open the object as a settings list. ═══ 8. Accept Changes to Todo List ═══ This option will accepts all changes made to the todo list and updates the database. ═══ 9. Print the Todo List ═══ This option will print the todo list. You can then take it home and read in your bath. ═══ 10. Deadline ═══ As the name of this field implies - you're dead if you don't complete the item by this date. ═══ 11. Description ═══ A textual description of the item to be performed. A new description can be entered or an existing description can be altered. ═══ 12. Type ═══ The default type is 'xxxxx'. Other types can be selected br scrolling. Note that the user cannot type into or change this field. ═══ 13. Priority ═══ Select the priority by spinning through the ring of choices. ═══ 14. Completed ═══ Set this checkbox on (by clicking with the mouse) when the item has been completed.
