  5.     Manager, such as last minute updates to
  6.     the docmentation, installation instructions, etc.

  10. How to get help
  11. ---------------
  12. If you have any problems, please read this file, the online help,
  13. and any other text files in the ARCMAN directory. If you still have
  14. a question and need help, it is available from the following sources:
  15.  
  16. 1. Leave a message to Kelly Schrock on FIDOnet, address 1:280/304,
  17. and I will reply to you as soon as i get your message.

  19. 2. E-mail jkelly@tyrell.net with an explanation of your problem. This
  20. is probably the fastest way to get in touch with me, as I am on there
  21. almost every day.

  23. Installing Archive Manager
  24. --------------------------------------
  25. To install this program, log to the distribution disk where the
  26. files for it are stored, and type INSTALL. you will be prompted
  27. for information on where the files should be placed. If the files
  28. were in an archive, unpack them all to a temprary directory, and
  29. type INSTALL from the temporary directory.

  31. The file ARCMAN.INF contains important information on the use of
  32. Archive Manager.
  33.  
  34. To view the INF file, type VIEW ARCMAN at the command prompt.
  35.  
  36. The online help file, ARCMAN.HLP, contains the same information,
  37. in HLP format.
  38.  
  39. If the installation program fails to properly install the Archive
  40. template in your templates folder, it is probably because there
  41. is already an archive DLL in use. If this is the case, you will need
  42. to do the following:
  43. . Shut down and reboot your system.
  44. . When you get the little "OS/2" message in the upper-left corner
  45.   of your boot screen, press Alt+F1, and then select "C" from the
  46.   menu that follows. This will start your machine in text mode.
  47. . When you get to a command prompt, copy the AMFILE.DLL from the
  48.   Archive Manager installation directory into the \OS2\DLL directory
  49.   of your boot drive, and reboot.

  52. Using Archive Manager
  53. ---------------------
  54. The simplest way to use Archive Manager is to make a shadow of it on
  55. your desktop, and drag archive files to it when you want to manipulate
  56. them. If you installed Archive Manager with the accompanying installation
  57. program, it will be set up with an association for ZIP and LZH files, and
  58. files with these extensions will display the Archive Manager icon.

  60. Dealing with ZIP files made with PKZIP 2.04g
  61. --------------------------------------------
  62. The current OS/2 version of PKZIP can not read files created with the current
  63. DOS version of PKZIP. If you need to work with .ZIP files created with
  64. PKZIP 2.04g, you must use the InfoZIP archivers, available on most BBSes.
  65. These can handle .ZIP files created with PKZIP 2.04g.

  67. NOTE:
  68. Only InfoZIP 5.x and above are supported! Earlier versions are not able
  69. to extract files to a specified directory, and are NOT supported with
  70. Archive Manager.
