TOYLAND 1.1 README FILE
=======================
****************
** BASIC INFO **
****************
This file has some basic information on Toyland. For more information
read the online help of the game.
Toyland comes in one version which has both hicolor and 256 color
support. The game determines your system's color depth at startup.
This can be overridden - see the online help of the game for more
information.
You can use MMOS/2 to play Toyland but don't require it.
This package has the game in the "Merlin" (Warp 4) enhanced version (1.1)
***************
** ATTENTION **
***************
There is a known problem with MMOS/2. It seems that all MMOS/2 problems
are specific driver problems. If you happen to have problems with your
sound please report them to me AND post them in the comp.os.os2 newsgroups -
so the people who make the drivers learn about the problems. To make reports
easier for you - and better to handle for me this package includes a
SOUNDBUG.TXT. Please use that form to report your problem.
Known problems include:
- sound drop out on AWE 32 - even with the latest drivers from CL
- sound doesn't play at all while music does play on certain cards.
- MIDI device is not resetted properly so some songs might mess up
other songs.
Later this year I will change the way the sound is produced using DART and
probably RTMIDI. However I will wait at least 3 months to make sure as
many people as possible do have Warp 4.

** QUICKINSTALL **
******************
You can simply unzip the file to a directory of your choice and start by
creating a program object or typing *toyland* in an OS/2 command window.
If you prefer to install the game run "install.cmd" from the command line.
This will install Toyland to a different location, create a WPS folder
with the program in it. Since Toyland uses the standard IBM installer you
can simply remove Toyland by rerunning the program. If you install future
versions you can use the update function of Toyland.
If you use the installer you have to install these components:
- Toyland Executables
- Levels
- ANY graphics (Hicolor or 256 color) package
The other packages are optional:
- Online Help is strongly recommended
- Text Files are also recommended
- Sound has the sound and music files
If you create a program object make sure to set the path in the settings
order - otherwise Toyland will not find the data.
The files:
readme.1st this file
readme.doc Copyright, Installation, etc.
Toyland.exe The executable
Toyland.hlp The help pages
Toyland.ini Ini-file (will be created at first startup)
Graphics\ Graphics libraries
Sound\ Sound libraries (wav files)
Music\ Music (midi songs)
Install\ Installer files
Data\ Level data. Player data will be created here, too.
Feel free to use and copy this version of the game as long as you give all
of the files in the original form!

** SUPPORT **
*************
If you have any questions, problems, or suggestions you can always contact
me at:
toyland@teamos2.org and
menge@rrz.uni-koeln.de
I will help you as soon as possible. Usually you will receive an answer
within 48 hours.
Of course you can also subscribe to then Toyland Mailing List - many members
of the list have played Toyland for a long time and may know some features
even better than me. See the online help for more information on how to
join the mailing list.
Another source is the newsnet group comp.os.os2.games. Many OS/2 gamers
read this group frequently - and so do I.
If you are not connected to the internet you are free to contact me via
snail mail. See the online help for my address.

http://www.teamos2.org/toyland/ (America)
http://www.uni-koeln.de/~a0085/Toyland/ (Europe)
The official Toyland ftp site is:
