Q. What's in this file?
This file is a technical document detailing what, where and
why I've changed certain aspects of SLASH/Wizard patch/Nethack. If
you have any other things you'd like to know, feel free to give me a
buzz through e-mail, and I'll add it here/reply to you.
Q. What Interface Improvements are there?
The most obvious is the new character selection menu. What I thought
was that us tty users shouldn't be penalised for not having X windows
and since Nethack already has a nice windowing interface built-in, I thought
"why not use it?". Took quite a few hours of experimentation before I got my
first working menu, and now I stay on the lookout for more areas that may
need GUI enhancement.
Other target areas improved using GUI:
-Gender, Alignment selection
-Shopkeepers menu
-'W'ear command now puts on amulets, rings and blindfolds.

Q. What Bug fixes have been done?
Okay, some of these may not have been bugs, but I took them to be
<grin>. Anyhow, in no particular order:
-Master key of Thievery should not break off in locks anymore!
Being a Quest artifact, I don't think it was meant to break off
in locks.
-Knights are back to being Lawful, Necronomancers are Chaotic.
This was just plain weird. Both of them were defaulting as Neutral?!!
-healing spell class bonus applied to the general healing spell class
Wizard Patch probably neglected this by accident. All the healing
spells should get the healing spell bonus.
-Shopkeepers can now improve your tool-weapons
Shopkeepers can now enchant your pickaxes, unicorn horns. Probably
wasn't originally implemented because it was a little tough to get
working.

Q. What spells have been added?
I've added lightning, acid and poison "beam type" spells. These
are the same as their wand/dragon breath counterparts.
I've added Megasized Fireballs/cone of cold/magic missile for
skilled wizards. To achieve the affect, I had the standard beam come out and
explode every step of the way (except the first step to keep the wizard from
getting toasted by his own spell).
Q. What class abilities have been changed?
Lycanthropes now have a 'Slash' attack. Pretty much this is a claw
to death/stun attack.
Q. What kind of machine are you running Nethack on?
Pentium 120 IBM Win95 running DOS protected mode SLASH'EM - always
the latest version with the latest bugs ;B
