WAD File Name : PURPLE25.WAD

WAD Text File : PURPLE25.TXT
NOTE : This is Also included in the ZIP file.
WAD Author : Karl J. Solie
-------------
ALL credit to Karl, the Author of the WAD File, He did all the Hard Work
in creating this Level - I just had a lot of Fun playing it over...
LMP File Name/S : PRPL25??.LMP
LMP Author : S Widlake
Email Address : swidlake@rl.ac.uk
DOOM Version : 1.2 (Registered ;-)
Skill Level : Ultra Violent
No. Players : Single Player
Running Time/S : 14-16 Mins (Viglen IV 33, 20MB RAM)
Comments : Six [ yeah 6 - this is probably a bit excessive but
that's only about 10% of the ones I recorded, many
unseccessful :-( - what the heck, they compress well
enough and there's no one forcing you to down-load
them :-) ] .LMP recordings made of "Marine" Solie's
PURPLE25.WAD creation. I don't make a habit of down
loading single .WAD files; I'd much prefer entire
alternative episodes similar, in progressive size
and difficulty, to the DOOM episodes [ or episodes
designed for deathmatches 8-) ] ; anyway PURPLE is
my favourite colour (UK) so... I liked this .WAD a
lot - probably because it looks so good to watch.
Maybe it is a bit too "easy" for a single player
but it is a challenge - 3 or 5 Barrons to play with
and an easy kill on a Spider ;-) The design is a
little strange though - you only need two keys to
complete it but getting the third key is the level.
So I've done it in two stages. If I had more time
(roll on ver 1.4 !) I reckon I could kill them all
[ inc. the maze past the red key - which I didn't
record :-( ] and exit the level in approx. 25 mins.
Permissions : These .LMP files may be freely copied, distributed
on bulletin boards and/or combined with other files
in compilations, CD's, etc etc...
Do whatever you want with them - You've got them
now so they're yours, well anyone's really...
And you don't need to give me any credit for any
screen-shots derived from these LMP files...
... might be nice though ... ;-)
: Credits go to Karl, the author of the WAD, ThanX

Please feel free to have at, if you do modify it please give me credit, and
if you can, write me, because I would love to play it with a twist.
And if you play this and enjoy it, drop me a note, I would allways like to
chat with fellow space marines. And by all means feel free to distribute
this to anyone you want.
PS. Can you actually believe the guys who edit the shareware version and don't
allow anyone to touch THEIR level????
Back again - this is me now...
As I said there are Six .LMP recorded files here...
If you hadn't already gathered these ".LMP" recordings are *SPOILERS* !!!
If you want to enjoy getting wasted loads of times before you complete
this .WAD - you may have already got it and are finding time to get round
to playing it, or it may have been included in some .WAD compilation, or
whatever - then DON'T read any further...

PRPL25L0 LMP 116472 22/06/94 23:19 Takes 'bout 14 Min 15 Seconds
This was (I think) my first sucessful completion of the level slowly.
Go for the yellow key and then the blue key 'cos they're both needed,
killing them as I go along, picking up all the nice weapons but at the
same time avoiding the "unneccessary" areas.
PRPL25LA LMP 126840 23/06/94 21:36 Takes 'bout 15 Min 15 Seconds
PRPL25LB LMP 130736 23/06/94 23:10 Takes 'bout 15 Min 50 Seconds
PRPL25LC LMP 115028 24/06/94 21:20 Takes 'bout 14 Min 00 Seconds
Better RUN-through completions of the level. Similar but different. By
now I'd learnt most of this level so it was time to rush in there and
get at 'em before they knew I was there.
PRPL25S1 LMP 129668 25/06/94 20:06 Takes 'bout 16 Min 00 Seconds
PRPL25S2 LMP 131316 25/06/94 21:21 Takes 'bout 16 Min 05 Seconds
After a change of plan, these show the getting of the Red (third) key and
the "Easy Kill" of the spider, then back to the three Barrons by the first
(Yellow) key with a Big "Fragging" (plasma) Gun. It should be rather easy
to complete the level from there on but I always found that I'm short on
time - so I kill myself. I think this is a bit strange - the maximum time
for a .LMP file is supposed to be about 20 Mins [ before the game bombs
with some dumb error and NO recording :-( but this is being fixed in the
next release :-) ] but I found that any time approching 16:30 tends to
fall over. Maybe it's someting to do with this .WAD, I don't know, I use
a rat-type-device, maybe that's it, I'm guessing, but in this case it's
best to finish (or die) as soon as possible past the 16 min point...

These .LMPS were recorded using a DOOM Command line similar to...
DOOM -Devparm -File Purple25.Wad -Skill 4 -Warp 2 5 -Record Prpl
Don't forget the "Warp 2 5" parameter 'cos without it you get E1L1 -
this level could have been placed at any level in each of the episodes
but at least the music is different from E1L1 (I can get so bored with
that but that's where most people seem to put their levels - boo).
To play the .LMP files back again use sometime along the lines of...
DOOM -File Purple25.Wad -Playdemo filename
Where "filename" is the name of the .LMP file but WithOut the ."LMP
extension. You don't need to specify any of the other options since
they get picked up from the .LMP. However, don't forget the "-File
Purple25.Wad" (this time With the extension) paramater 'cos it'll
look really stupid if you miss it out.
So, see the .BAT files
PLAY-TWO BAT 93 28/06/94 21:39 Play my "Best Two" Recordings
PLAY-ALL BAT 269 28/06/94 21:39 Play them All - takes a while
REC-PRPL BAT 71 28/06/94 21:40 Record your own "Purple25.LMP"
If you can kill the Spider AND finish the level, well you win basically.
But if you can please can you record your efforts and let me know where
I can get at it 'cos I'd love to be able to see/do this.
Oh, I forgot to say this before, so I'll mention it now... whilst playing
this .WAD at no time did I notice any major bugs - No HOM effects and NO
FOB's (whatever they might be). However I did have one minor problem with
the yellow door - it shut. It went like this - they're all down, I open
the yellow door, looks clear, wander in... oh bugger, it's a Baron, back
off, sound of death, then the door opens and Mr. Baron comes in... Blam,
not down yet, and I waste 'im :-) but the yellow door has come down, and
I can't re-open it - what's the deal here, it wouldn't open again :-(
Okay which .LMP do I try next...
DOOM On...

PS: see RAL3MAN.ADD the d/l the .ZIP 'cos it's bloody brilliant, OK ;-)
