  3. Program Description
  4.  
  5. OWL Simple Business Accounting (SBA) is an easy-to-use program 
  6. that is designed to maintain complete and accurate accounting of 
  7. income and expenses.  In creating Simple Business Accounting, our 
  8. objective was to produce a program that is intuitive and requires 
  9. no prior knowledge of accounting.  SBA uses the "single entry" 
  10. bookkeeping method that is recommended by the IRS.  This 
  11. accounting method is easy to use and is equally suited for small 
  12. businesses and individuals.

  14. Using SBA, you can produce a variety of expense, income, profit 
  15. and general ledger reports. You can define up to 1000 different 
  16. income and expense accounts to fully categorize your income and 
  17. expenses for tax purposes.

  19. SBA employs the concept of folders where each folder contains 
  20. income and expense data that may be reported either separately or 
  21. in combination.  Thus, Simple Business Accounting may be used for 
  22. multiple businesses, multiple divisions within a single business 
  23. or for both business and personal accounting.

  25. Simple Business Accounting is linked to OWL's invoicing, sales and 
  26. client management program (OASIS) via an import option that 
  27. transfers income data from OASIS into Simple Business Accounting.  
  28. OASIS provides complete tracking of sales, customers and 
  29. receivables.  The combination of OASIS and Simple Business 
  30. Accounting provides a complete business management solution for 
  31. many small businesses.

  33. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  34.  
  35. - Windows 95.or Windows NT
  36. - A hard disk with approximately 1.5 Megabytes of available space
  37. - 8 Megabytes of memory.

  39. INSTALLATION
  40.  
  41. To install OWL Simple Business Accounting run "SBASETUP.EXE".  For 
  42. example, if SBASETUP.EXE is on a floppy disk in the A: Drive
  43.  
  44. - From the Windows 95 Start menu, choose Run.
  45. - In the Run dialog box, type "a:\sbasetup.exe" and choose OK.
  46.  
  47. The setup program offers the following installation options:
  48.  
  49. Installation Directory?  If you already have a copy of SBA on your 
  50. hard disk, then choose the directory where it is presently 
  51. installed.  The default is C:\OWL_SB.
  52.  
  53. Backup Replaced Files?:  Select "Yes" if you would like the setup 
  54. program to make backup copies of all files that are replaced 
  55. during the installation.
  56.  
  57. Standard or Upgrade Installation?  If you are installing to the 
  58. same drive and directory where SBA was previously installed then 
  59. choose the Upgrade Installation option.  This will prevent your 
  60. existing data files from being overwritten.

  62. The setup program creates a program group named "OWL Business 
  63. Apps" with icons for Simple Business Accounting (SB Accounting), 
  64. the user's guide (SB Accounting Help), and the Readme file (SB 
  65. ReadMe).

  67. RUNNING THE PROGRAM

  69. To run SBA click on the Start menu and choose Programs - OWL 
  70. Business Apps - SB Accounting..
  71.  
  72. The data files shipped with the program contain sample data which 
  73. is provided to help you become familiar with the various options 
  74. and capabilities of the program.  The sample data covers calendar 
  75. years 1997 and 1998.  The Getting Started section of the User's 
  76. Guide contains a step-by-step guide to getting acquainted with 
  77. SBA.
