  8. <H4>Add List Items Window</H4>
  9. <p>
  10. You'll see the Add List Items window when you choose the <b>Add Item to List</b> menu pick
  11. or button.  Remember that you can enter information to any field for
  12. any item, even if that column is not currently displayed for a list.
  13. <p>
  14. <b>Name</b> is the name of the list item, and is required for every item.
  15. <p>
  16. <b>Amount</b> stores the value of the Amount field.  This value must be a valid
  17. numeric value and may contain a decimal point.  Remember that you can also set up your list to ask you for amounts when you 
  18. flag an item for a Two-Step (Shopping) List, or check an item.  Set this
  19. up in <a href="file:lp_editlist.htp">List Properties</a>.  Amount values are always
  20. optional.
  21. <p>
  22. <b>Units</b> is 
  23. the unit associated with the amount, such as dollars, pounds,
  24. gallons, cups or minutes.  You can choose an item in the Units list,
  25. or enter any other value.  To add units values, just enter one into 
  26. the list -- it will then be available for the rest of that list.
  27. Units are optional, and are <b><i>not</i></b>
  28. required if you use Amount.
  29. <p>
  30. <b>Category</b> can be any text value.  
  31. Choose a category from the list or add a new one.
  32. To add a Category, just enter the information into 
  33. the list -- it will then be available for the rest of that list.
  34. Categories can be used to sort or filter the items on your list.  
  35. Category information is always optional.
  36. <p>
  37. <b>Priority</b> can be any number.  Choose a priority number from the
  38. list or enter one in.  Priority is always optional.
  39. <p>
  40. <b>Notes</b> lets you add any additional information for this item.
  41. Notes can also be used to sort or filter the items on your list.  Notes information 
  42. is always optional.  
  43. <p>
  44. Use the <b>OK</b> button to add a new item and close the window. 
  45. Use the <b>Add Item</b> button to add <b><i>multiple</b></i> items
  46. without closing the dialog box after each.
  47. <p>
  48. <h4>Positioning List Items </h4>
  49. <p>
  50. Items will be added to your list following the currently selected
  51. list item, if the list has not been sorted.  If the list has
  52. been sorted, added items will be positioned according to the
  53. current sort order.
  54. <p>
  55. You can 
  56. use the <b>Remove Sorting</b> pick on the <b>View</b>
  57. menu to remove any sorting and allow you to control the order 
  58. of list items with the <b>arrow tools</b> or the <b>Move Item Up</b>
  59. and <b>Move Item Down</b> menu picks.  All the list items must
  60. be showing on the screen
  61. (that is, that <b>Don't Show Checked Items</b>
  62. and <b>Show Only Flagged Items</b> cannot be checked) before you
  63. can reposition any list items.  You must also remove any filters before
  64. you can reposition any list items.
