  3. Don't run this version of FidoMail with a pre-1.77 messagebase. Things are going
  4. to go horribly wrong. With the addition of reply-linking, more information is
  5. needed for each message. This information is not present in an old messagebase,
  6. so it won't work.
  7. If you want to use your old messagebase with the new version, do this:
  8.  
  9. 1. Make a backup copy of your old version.
  10. 2. Copy the contents of the old 'Msgs' directory into the new one.
  11. 3. Doubleclick the !Boot file in the new version.
  12. 4. Doubleclick the 'ChangeLink' program, found in the 'Utils' directory.
  13. 5. That's it. If it works, you can scrap the ChangeLink program and the
  14.    backup copy.

  18. The format of the dates stored in each message has changed too. Until they are
  19. converted, the sort-by-date function will not work, and the dates of old
  20. messages will be wrong. So there is also a program called 'RewritDate' in the
  21. 'Utils' directory. You should run this program once the abovementioned
  22. procedure is completed succesfully, then it will change the dates to the new
  23. format.
