  9. The following is an extract from a letter to Headteachers
  10. from T P Leahy of Tesco Stores plc.

  13.   'Following the tremendous success of the "Computers for
  14.   Schools" initiative last year, Tesco has decided to run the
  15.   scheme again.
  16.  
  17.   In 1992 schools nationwide received more than 13,000 items
  18.   of equipment, including over 3,000 computers, through the
  19.   scheme.
  20.  
  21.   This year the promotion is even longer, running for twelve
  22.   weeks, which will enable your school to collect even more
  23.   vouchers, and so obtain more equipment than last year.

  25.   From Monday 1st March until Sunday 23rd May, Tesco customers
  26.   will receive one "Computer Voucher" for every #25 spent in
  27.   any Tesco store. These vouchers can be exchanged for
  28.   computers and software, when collected by individual
  29.   schools.

  31.   The range of computer hardware has been widened without
  32.   increasing the cost to schools in numbers of vouchers
  33.   required and, this year, includes selected special needs
  34.   equipment. Acorn is again the exclusive supplier for this
  35.   scheme.

  40. Catalogues are being distributed to 12,000+ schools as I
  41. write.

  44. The general helpline for "Computers for Schools" is 
  45. 071 580 9370. Schools that want a pack, but haven't received
  46. one, by, say, the end of the week, should ring that number.

  48. Watch out for the Press and TV adverts beginning at the end
  49. of this month.
