  20. This disc contains a version of the DataVision® Lite
  21. package. This is fully functional with a maximum
  22. file size of 100k. This allows you to use all the
  23. facilities within the confines of the maximum file
  24. limit.

  26. The DataVision® Software uses Mode 15 for 256 
  27. colours.
  28.         
  29. This software is not Public Domain or Shareware.
  30. It is supplied at cost to demonstrate its facilities 
  31. to those who wish to evaluate it prior to purchase
  32. an unlimited version (if required).

  34. The User should appreciate that without the full
  35. manual, it is not possible to try all the facilities
  36. offered by this package, however it should become 
  37. obvious that DataVision® Lite offers the most
  38. comprehensive relational Database features in an
  39. accessible manner that does not require 
  40. programming.

  45. This version will now operate correctly on both RISC OS 3 and RISC OS 2
  46. machines with either ARM2 or ARM3 processors.
  47.  
  48. The 'Financial Accountant™' application database has now been included as an
  49. example of relational database capabilities. It is suppied solely to
  50. demonstrate DataVision®'s powerful relational facilities. Users can therefore
  51. use this as a basis to learn how to create their own custom accounting suite
  52. or other Business applications based on DataVision®.

  54. Note that before selecting options from the DataVision® Icon menus, ensure
  55. that the 'Next' bar in the 'Task Display' window is set as large as possible
  56. to provide sufficient memory for the option to be selected.

  58. Since the manuals went to press, an Import/Export facility has been added to
  59. DataVision®, allowing textfiles to be read or written to. The Import option
  60. requires a source textfile and a destination DataVision® database filename.
  61. The Export option requires a source DataVision® database filename and a
  62. destination text filename. The format of the textfile to be read should
  63. exactly match the record field format of the destination database. All fields
  64. in the textfile should be <Carriage Return> separated. Complete records
  65. should not have an empty line in between them since the program keeps track
  66. of field positions. For an example, export a textfile from a DataVision®
  67. database and examine its format. This texfile can then be read into another
  68. database of similar record/field format or appended to the database from
  69. which it was created by using the Import option.

  71. Note that DataVision® Lite is fully functional but limits all databases to a
  72. maximum of 100 Kbytes (100000 characters).
