This guide is to help if you are experiencing any problems and cannot fathom out what is wrong.
The title of each page describes the problem that you have and the page contains a selection of remedies. If the problem is not contained in these pages (which is unlikely) then refer to the user manual. If (heaven forbid) you still can't fix the problem, contact Oregan.
TOP:No Sound
Is sound enabled?
- Enable sound with *Audio On and *Speaker on
- Check the Symphony Priority lever - it should be on green or yellow
- Check that the internal speaker is configured on Preferences.
- Check the Control Panel to enable all the channels - all should be €
TOP:All Sound is wrong (1)
Is the correct number of channels configured?
- Check the number of voices in "Edit.Soft/Hard Voices" menu option
- Are there actually patterns playing through all voices?
Check the monitor screen to see that sound is being output.
TOP:All Sound is wrong (2)
Is the sample replay rate correct?
- The default micro-seconds between samples is 24µs - has this changed?
- Is the VIDC timing for your monitor correctly set?
To test this, turn off the VIDC control and play the track in mode 12,
and then find the VIDC option which obtains the same pitch when in a
HiRes mode.
TOP:Track Sounds Wrong
Are the correct sequences playing in the correct places?
- Check the monitor to see if the correct sequences are playing
If they aren't, edit them with the Sequence Editor
Are the correct instruments playing in the right places?
- Check the monitor to verify that the correct instruments are playing
If they aren't use the Pattern List Editor to SWAP instruments etc..
TOP:Some instruments don't play (can't be heard)
Have the instruments been loaded?
- Open the Sample Editor or Sample List. Load new samples if needed.
Have the instruments' volumes been turned off?
- Set the sample volumes to something more than zero!
Do the patterns use effect &0C to control the sample volume?
- Perhaps the volume is being set to zero by accident.
TOP:Some of the high notes sound wrong
Did you convert a foreign file (eg SoundTracker v1.0) ??
- The pitches for the notes may have been incorrect (were there any
warnings -'Some notes may sound wrong' - on loading?)
You will need to edit the notes manually to set the correct pitches,
or use the 'Transpose' tool.
TOP:The track is too fast
The default speed has not been set/is too fast
- Insert a 'Set Speed' effect (&0F) into the FIRST pattern that plays.
A 'set speed' command is wrong
- Edit it using the Pattern Editor, but make use of the control panel
first to determine what speed or tempo should be set instead.
TOP:The track does not repeat/gets stuck
You have turned off the 'Auto Repeat at end of track' option
- Turn it on again from Preferences
There is a 'Position Jump' that recurses to the current position, and so the
tune never repeats or progresses any further.
- Check the monitor to find the command and remove it using Pattern Ed.
TOP:The track stops when it shouldn't
There is a Pattern Break (&0D), Jump to Loop (&16) or Position Jump (&0B)
where there shouldn't be. Use the monitor to find the error, setting the
speed to a lower value if you need to, and then use the pattern editor to
