  15.             I really don't care if you change it.

  17.             But.... Doom is a trademark  of ID Software
  18.             This set of batch files is NOT by ID Software
  19.                 so don't ask them for support.
  20.  
  21.             SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: A system fast enough to run doom
  22.             and a 9600 baud modem or higher. Oh yeah.... you need Doom 
  23.             also. DOOM 1.2 registered or Shareware.
  24.  
  25.             1.) make sure you have a path to dos:  path=c:\dos
  26.             2.) have the files copied to the root directory.
  27.             3.) type edit modem.bat 
  28.                 it will say: mode com2:96,n,1,p
  29.                              echo at z s46=0 &q0 > com2
  30.             4:) make sure the com port is correct if you modem is
  31.                 on com1 you should change it too look like this:
  32.                              mode com1:96,n,1,p
  33.                              echo at z s46=0 &q0 > com2
  34.             7:)then look where it says echo atdt0000000 > com2
  35.             8.)substitute your friends phone number for 0000000 and make sure 
  36.             your com port is com2 if not change it to com1
  37.             9.)look look where it says echo ata > com2 
  38.             10.)check the com port (com2 or com1)
  39.             11.)exit it and save
  40.             12.)at the dos prompt type modem
  41.             13.)pick option a
  42.             14.)Make sure you give this program to your friend
  43.             15.)He does the exact same thing but instead of step13
  44.                 he hits b WHEN THE PHONE RINGS NOT BEFORE IT DOES
  45.             16.)go into doom setup (probably doom's directory then type setup)
  46.             17.)go to network/modem/serial game press enter
  47.             18.)setup everything make sure you two have the same settings 
  48.                 unless your com ports that your modems are on are different
  49.             19.)double click already connected and then double click run doom
  50.             20.)it will connect right away it should not take long if it 
  51.                 dosen't connect make sure the batch file settings
  52.                 are correct if that doesn't work e-mail me at: 74347,1221
  53.                 tell me EXACTLY what you did to setup and tell me how you 
  54.                 modified it if you did.
  55.             NOTE:after this first setup all you need is the batch commands
  56.             and step 7 and maybe a path to dos.

  62.         It will work for you as long as the modem settings are correct, you 
  63.         have DOOM 1.2 and you are calling the right number.
