            I really don't care if you change it.

            But.... Doom is a trademark  of ID Software
            This set of batch files is NOT by ID Software
                so don't ask them for support.

            SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: A system fast enough to run doom
            and a 9600 baud modem or higher. Oh yeah.... you need Doom 
            also. DOOM 1.2 registered or Shareware.

            1.) make sure you have a path to dos:  path=c:\dos
            2.) have the files copied to the root directory.
            3.) type edit modem.bat 
                it will say: mode com2:96,n,1,p
                             echo at z s46=0 &q0 > com2
            4:) make sure the com port is correct if you modem is
                on com1 you should change it too look like this:
                             mode com1:96,n,1,p
                             echo at z s46=0 &q0 > com2
            7:)then look where it says echo atdt0000000 > com2
            8.)substitute your friends phone number for 0000000 and make sure 
            your com port is com2 if not change it to com1
            9.)look look where it says echo ata > com2 
            10.)check the com port (com2 or com1)
            11.)exit it and save
            12.)at the dos prompt type modem
            13.)pick option a
            14.)Make sure you give this program to your friend
            15.)He does the exact same thing but instead of step13
                he hits b WHEN THE PHONE RINGS NOT BEFORE IT DOES
            16.)go into doom setup (probably doom's directory then type setup)
            17.)go to network/modem/serial game press enter
            18.)setup everything make sure you two have the same settings 
                unless your com ports that your modems are on are different
            19.)double click already connected and then double click run doom
            20.)it will connect right away it should not take long if it 
                dosen't connect make sure the batch file settings
                are correct if that doesn't work e-mail me at: 74347,1221
                tell me EXACTLY what you did to setup and tell me how you 
                modified it if you did.
            NOTE:after this first setup all you need is the batch commands
            and step 7 and maybe a path to dos.

        This program has always worked for me!!!
        It will work for you as long as the modem settings are correct, you 
        have DOOM 1.2 and you are calling the right number.
