- Folks,
-
- Here is a technique for toasting the space Gallions in Sierra's INCA.
- Its pretty specific, so don't read on unless you aren't completely
- humbled yet. The first trick, untill you get the hang of it, is to
- come into the sequence with your armor completely intact. This means
- that you must destroy the space ships in the first battle sequence as
- quickly as possible. Don't mess around with the phaser weapons, use
- the seeker missle (F2).
-
- When the sequence opens and the planet is in view, DON'T TOUCH THE
- MOUSE. let the program go through the graphics. When the planet
- comes back, still DON'T TOUCH THE MOUSE. Hit F2. The nearest ship
- will be automatically targeted you'll hear a high pitched rapid
- beeping in the speaker, and the targeting reticle will be in the box.
- Fire a missle DON'T try to aim. When the first one is destroyed move
- the mouse down to the lower left a bit to target the next one, and
- fire when you hear the sound again. Do this untill they are all gone.
- You should be able to get three on the first pass. Keep the last
- two bogies in front of you and fire the missles when you hear the
- sound and you targeting reticle is in the box.
-
- The program gives you three free seekers, so if you get each with one
- shot, you'll have three left for future use. ( I don't know if this
- is enough) more about that later.
-
- When the last one is toasted, steer back toward the planet, so it
- fills the top two thirds of your screen. Do this quickley and take a
- deep breath!!
-
- When the computer notifies you of the bandits (Gallions) find the
- lowest of the three (it's flying away from you) accelerate immediately
- toward it and when you'r close give it a 4 sec. Blast with the Phaser.
- Your hitting it if you see red flashes. I found no effect on the
- Gallions with the other weapons, so save them (I THINK!). The trick
- here seems to avoid lingering on any one ship. This way you maintain
- maximum weapon effectivness, and the gallions have trouble targeting
- you. After you've softened this one up steer down and accellerate.
- Steer back up and get the next one in view using the front radar
- (RIGHT) accelerate toward it and blast for 4 sec. Don't get greedy.
- If you loose weapon effectivness you'll die. Repeat this over and
- over, leapfroging from one ship to the next untill each one has been
- softened a few times. Keep moving fast, watch the radar, you'll get
- oriented and get the hang of the pattern.
-
- The best way to hit the ships is from the front or rear, but don't
- pass along the side or you'll thake a hit, go below, and back up to
- the plane of the other ships.
-
- If you come across on that is giving you some heat, Don't get to
- close. Your phaser's can still hit but you also have to defend
- against it's fire. If you postpone you dive untill you'r "In the
- minus" your probably too late, so dont linger just fire and run.
-
- Once each ship has been softened up you can really lay in on the next
- pass. You should be able to make the first kill. After this, the
- two remainig ships become more aggressive. If you've done the first
- part right, you'll have sufficient armor left. Be patient and you'll
- have good shots at annother one. (keep leap-frogging) When you find
- one you can approach from the rear or front lay in and toast him.
-
- The last ship is much more aggressive, Try to get some distance
- before you approach each time. Just don't get greedy, and you will
- prevail if you still have enough armor.
-
- One final note. Before you go on in the game it may be advisable to
- complete the first part of the sequence using only the phaser weapons.
- This in the case that the seekers are needed later on. I have no
- knowledge of this because i'm stuck on the sequence after the
- gallions. A little practice and you can do the gallions with very
- little loss of armor. Thus you can expend some on the first 5 ships
- and save your seekers.
-
- Great Game!!
