  1. These are very schematic directions to install GAMMA on a network with
  2.  
  3. -)    at least 2 PCs, each equipped with a GAMMA-supported network adapter
  4.     (see GAMMA web page, http://www.disi.unige.it/project/gamma).
  5.  
  6. -)    a Fast Ethernet hub or switch, or a Gigabit Ethernet switch,
  7.     connecting the PCs to one another.
  8.     If you have only 2 PCs you may consider a back-to-back connection
  9.     using a crossover cable.
  10.  
  11. -)    Linux 2.4.21, with source files installed on the PC where you
  12.     are going to compile GAMMA.
  13.  
  14.  
  15. 1)  Get the latest gamma.tar.gz (choose the right one
  16.     from the GAMMA Web page, http://www.disi.unige.it/project/GAMMA).
  17.     Place it somewhere in your file system (your home dir is OK).
  18.  
  19. 2)  Unpack the source code with the following command:
  20.     tar xvzf gamma.tar.gz
  21.     A directory named "gamma" is then created, which contains all the stuff.
  22.  
  23. 3)  Under gamma/docs you can find the GAMMA installation manual
  24.     (installGAMMA.ps).  Read it carefully while installing GAMMA.
  25.     The manual is always worth a reading, although the installation procedure
  26.     is very simple in most cases ("configure; make; make install" then
  27.     recompile the Linux kernel).
