  8.  To install VINES 6.0 software on a DOS NDIS 
  9.  workstation, follow these instructions.  DOS 
  10.  must be installed on the target workstation 
  11.  C: drive, or you must have a bootable DOS floppy.
  12.  
  13.  1.  Use the DOS MD command to create a subdirectory 
  14.      called \VINES.
  15.  
  16.  2.  Copy the contents of the VINES LAN S/W (DOS) 
  17.      Install diskette into the \VINES subdirectory.
  18.  
  19.  3.  Copy the contents of the NDIS subdirectory on 
  20.      the VINES LAN S/W (DOS) 2 of 2 diskette into 
  21.      the \VINES subdirectory.
  22.  
  23.  4.  Copy the PROTOCOL.INI fragment from the NDIS\DOS 
  24.      subdirectory on the EtherDisk diskette to the 
  25.      \VINES subdirectory.

  27.  5.  Edit the PROTOCOL.INI file to read as follows:

  29.      [PROTOCOL MANAGER]
  30.       DRIVERNAME = PROTMAN$
  31.  
  32.      [VINES_XIF]
  33.       DRIVERNAME = NDISBAN$
  34.       BINDINGS = ELNK3
  35.  
  36.      [ELNK3]
  37.       DRIVERNAME = ELNK3$

  39.  6.  Run the PCCONFIG.EXE program located in the \VINES sudirectory.

  41.  7.  Select option 1, Netword Card Settings.
  42.  
  43.  8.  Select the NDIS Ethernet option.
  44.  
  45.  9.  The NDIS workstation screen appears. Enter the interrupt request 
  46.      number (IRQ) you selected for the EtherLink III adapter.
  47.  
  48.      Note: For the 3C509 adapter, select the IRQ using the Diagnostic
  49.            and Configuration utility.
  50.            For the 3C579 adapter or the 3C509 adapter in EISA mode, select 
  51.            the IRQ using the EISA configuration utility.
  52.            For the 3C529 adapter, select the IRQ using the Micro Channel 
  53.            setup program.

  56. 10.  Edit the CONFIG.SYS file and add the following 
  57.      lines, substituting A: for C: for a floppy 
  58.      disk installation.

  60.      DEVICE = C:\VINES\PROTMAN.DOS /I:C:\VINES
  61.      DEVICE = C:\VINES\ELNK3.DOS
  62.  
  63. 11.  Add the BAN command to the AUTOEXEC.BAT file.  
  64.      BAN loads the NDISBAN drivers and reads the 
  65.      PCCONFIG.DB file to invoke changes made during the
  66.      PCCONFIG stage.
