  19. I.    SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  21. 1.  PC 486 and above with 16 MB RAM.
  22.  
  23. 2.  Microsoft Windows« 95/98 or NT4.0 (USA).
  24.  
  25. 3.  Full installation: 100 MB hard disk space.
  26.     Minimal installation: 5 MB hard disk space.

  29. II.   INSTALLATION
  30.  
  31. 1.  Insert the CD-ROM in the appropriate drive.
  32.  
  33. 2.  Click Start on the Windows taskbar and select Run.
  34.  
  35. 3.  Type d:\WNW\setup.exe and click OK. If your CD-ROM is
  36.     in a drive other than d:, substitute the appropriate
  37.     letter in the command, for example e:\WNW\setup.exe.
  38.     Follow the instructions on the screen.
  39.  
  40. 4.  Webster's New World Dictionary setup asks if you want to
  41.     copy all files to your hard disk. For a full installation,
  42.     choose Yes. The entire program is copied to your hard 
  43.     disk, and you can run the program whenever you want. For 
  44.     a partial installation, choose No. Only a small portion 
  45.     of the program is copied to your hard disk, while the 
  46.     data files remain only on your CD-ROM. To run the program
  47.     with a partial installation, the CD-ROM must be in the 
  48.     drive.

  51. III.  GETTING STARTED
  52.  
  53. During setup, you have an option to run Webster's New
  54. World Dictionary every time you run Windows. If you chose 
  55. this option, Webster's New World Dictionary should be active
  56. whenever you run Windows. If you did not choose this option,
  57. click Start and choose Programs | WNW Dictionary | WNW to 
  58. run Webster's New World Dictionary.

  61. IV.   DELETING WEBSTER'S NEW WORLD DICTIONARY FROM THE STARTUP
  62.       MENU

  64. 1.  Click Start | Settings | Taskbar on the Windows taskbar.
  65.  
  66. 2.  Select Start Menu Programs.
  67.  
  68. 3.  Click Remove.
  69.  
  70. 4.  Double-click Start-Up and select WNW.

  72. 5.  Click Remove.

  84. 4.  Select WNW Dictionary and click Add / Remove.

  86. 5.  Windows displays the following message: "Are you sure
  87.     you want to remove the selected application and all of its 
  88.     components?" Click Yes.

  93. If you need to run Webster's New World Dictionary's setup a 
  94. second time, be sure to uninstall the program first.

  97. VII.  TROUBLESHOOTING

  99. USING WEBSTER'S NEW WORLD DICTIONARY'S TEXT GRABBING SYSTEM
  100.  
  101. Webster's New World Dictionary uses Accent Software 
  102. International's text-grabbing system to let you look up words
  103. from other programs by clicking or pointing to them with your
  104. mouse. In the following instances, the text-grabbing system
  105. may not capture text:
  106.  
  107. *  You are trying to select a menu item in most 
  108.    Windows 95 application.
  109.  
  110. *  You are trying to select words in an application
  111.    that uses non-standard Windows 95 functionality
  112.    for text display, such as CorelDraw 8.
  113.  
  114. In these instances, you can still use Webster's New World 
  115. Dictionary by choosing words manually in the Webster's New
  116. World Dictionary main window.

  118. USING WORD 6

  120. In this version of Webster's New World Dictionary, if you
  121. are using the program with Word 6, the Webster's New World
  122. Dictionary custom dictionary will not be installed as a 
  123. Word custom dictionary.

  126. VIII. NEW FEATURE - WILD CARD SEARCH
  127.  
  128. When doing a database search for a word you can 
  129. use "wild cards". An asterisk ("*") will match any
  130. sequence of zero or more letters; a question mark 
  131. ("?") will match any single letter. For example
  132. "diction*" will find both "diction" and "dictionary".
  133. "comput?" will find "compute" but not "computer".
