  12. Definition:
  13.  
  14. The PCWRITE echo is for conversations concerning the following SHARED
  15. topics:
  16.  
  17.   PCWRITE: a Word Processor for the IBM and compatibles.
  18.  
  19.   Cross or Multi-Platform Computing: Any topic which concerns using two
  20.      or more computer types to acheive an end. Such topics include, but
  21.      are not limited to:
  22.  
  23.    * Graphic, text or other file conversions between Commodore, IBM,
  24.      Amiga, MAC, etc. platforms. Discussions on moving data to/from
  25.      other platforms.
  26.  
  27.    * The simultaneous use of different computing platforms when used
  28.      together in a networking situation.
  29.  
  30.    * Using one computer platform to emulate another.

  33. Echo Rules:

  35. The PCWRITE echo has the following rules which all participants are to
  36. read, AND FOLLOW when posting messages.

  38. Off Topic Messages:
  39.  
  40.     When discussions do not directly involve PCWRITE or Multi-Platform
  41.     Computing they should be moved to another echo or Netmail.
  42.     Due to the low volume of the echo, as long as discussions are
  43.     about computers in general, messages will be considered "on topic".

  45. Piracy:
  46.  
  47.     Discussion of the illegal acquisition of copyright software is
  48.     forbidden and if flagrant may result in loss of access without
  49.     warning.

  51. Language:

  53.     This echo is open to all gender and age groups. Profanity will not
  54.     be tolerated.
  55.  
  56. Tolerance:
  57.  
  58.     Practice tolerance.     Because this echo is shared, it is especially
  59.     important that all participants tolerate messages concerning topics
  60.     which they may or may not be interested in.
  61.  
  62.     Personal attacks (flames), test messages, or political postings are
  63.     not allowed in this conference. Do not respond to such messages in
  64.     this echo.

  66. Quoting:

  68.     Quote enough so others will know what is being discussed, but do
  69.     not quote excessively. Do not quote origin and signature lines.

  71. Tag lines and Signature lines:

  73.     Taglines and signatures are NOT to advertise any Commerical
  74.     Enterprise. You may include the name of your BBS and Phone Number
  75.     in the Signature or tagline.
  76.  
  77.     Control and High-ASCII characters (below CHR$(32) and above
  78.     CHR$127) are forbidden.
  79.  
  80.     Graphic signatures, borders and other characters which
  81.     unnecessarily add to the bulk of your post are discouraged.

  83. Aliases/Handles:
  84.  
  85.     This is a REAL NAME only echo. If an Alias is used, the message
  86.     must be signed with your first and surname at the end of the
  87.     message. The Alias should be corrected as soon as possible.

  89. Subject lines:

  91.     Please put the subject being discussed in the message in the
  92.     subject line. This will assist readers who scan subject titles
  93.     looking for help on their particular topic/subject. This is
  94.     especially helpful considering that this echo has more than one
  95.     topic. Be considerate of those who share this echo with you.

  97.     A suggestion (not a "rule") is to use the following abbreviations
  98.     in the subject line, depending on the topic being discussed:

  100.     PW - PCWRITE topics
  101.     CP - Cross Platform topics
  102.     EM - Emulator topics

  113.     It is not intended to insult or embarrass any participant. If you

  115.     the address listed. Other users are asked NOT respond to "Official"
  116.     communications between the moderator and user.

  120.     In the event of a conflict, the moderator's best judgement shall
