  10. population.  Each ECHO is like a neighborhood of the virtual community.

  19. This is the Memories Echo. It is a non-region specific conference
  20. dedicated to all persons interested in nostalgia and trivia, with some
  21. related chatter on subjects of interest to seniors. It's a bit like
  22. the pot bellied stove in the old general store. Conversations usually
  23. start with reminiscing of something from the past, but seem to lead in
  24. many directions, which the Moderator generally tolerates so long as
  25. it's civilized conversation and doesn't violate any of the specific
  26. rules below. It's a group of fun to be around folks. Come on in.*

  28. The conference is moderated by Kent Anderson, Fidonet 1:382/1201, and
  29. Co-Moderator Bill White, 1:135/110.

  31. * The Moderator may appoint a successor, or call an election at any
  32. time by posting an announcement in the echo. Such announcement shall
  33. define the rules of, time frame for ,and the names of those
  34. responsible for monitoring and publishing the results of the election.
  35. In the event of the death or incapacity of the Moderator, the
  36. Co-Moderator shall have all the rights ascribed to the Moderator.

  39. regulations for echoes. The Moderator may also be reached on Internet

  44. This echo is open to everyone who complies with the following
  45. rules:

  47. 1. Topics may be broad, but not stray too far from the purpose of
  48.    the echo and that is to share germane conversation with those
  49.    having a common interest in things past. Excessive chatter, if
  50.    not related to times past, will be considered off topic.

  52. 2. Avoid excessive quoting. It costs money to send messages, but
  53.    do quote enough so others know to what you are referring.

  55. 3. DON'T get personal! Personal attacks (Flames) and profanity are
  56.    unnecessary and unwelcome in this echo. And, keep it clean. This is
  57.    a family echo. Risque remarks and off-color taglines will cause a
  58.    Moderator response.

  60. 4. Present day religion and politics, NO!

  62. 5. Only the Moderator will address off-topic traffic.

  64. 6. NO private messages.

  66. 7. Handles or aliases allowed if part of your BBSing with the
  67. addition of your real name at end of message.

  69. 8. No test messages, advertisments of any kind (including BBS ads)
  70.    allowed.

  72. 9. This conference may not be ported to the BIX echomail system,
  73.     Compuserve or to any other network's mail system without the
  74.     express written permission of the Moderator. Porting or gating the
  75.     echo into the Internet or to any Usenet newsgroup is expressly
  76.     forbidden.

  79.           provided that any messages originating from that site, when
