  10.            Rules for the Fidonet DOS Internet Apps Conference

  13. In compliance with Fidonet Echo Policy, the following will be posted at
  14. least once a month.  These rules are in addition to any valid Fidonet
  15. rules or policy.  They may be updated at any time by the Moderator.
  16.  
  17. ALL USERS WHO POST IN THIS CONFERENCE MUST AGREE TO ABIDE BY THE RULES
  18. STATED HEREIN AND ALL PREVAILING FIDONET RULES AND POLICY.

  20. This is the International Fidonet Echomail Conference DOS_INTERNET.
  21. It is paid for by individual systems who help distribute it.  Please follow
  22. Conference Rules to help keep moving DOS_INTERNET as cost effective as
  23. possible.

  25. The Fidonet Echomail Conference DOS_INTERNET is an echomail conference
  26. provided by the Fidonet amateur e-mail network.
  27.  
  28. General discussion of DOS Internet and DOS TCP/IP networking applications are
  29. permitted including related topics for SysOps importing Usenet Newsgroups.
  30. OFF-TOPIC are programs or questions specificly relating to operating under
  31. Windows, OS/2, UNIX, LINUX, or other type environment in which applications are
  32. not related to the DOS environment or linking to a program running under a DOS
  33. environment.

  35. No advertising is permitted.  This includes, but is not limited to,
  36. commercial products/services, BBS notices, BBS/other Files Lists. If you
  37. wish to claim an exception, please seek Moderator approval via netmail
  38. in advance of posting of such.

  40. Flames or obscenities are not permitted either in posted or quoted form.
  41.  
  42. LEAVE MODERATING TO THE MODERATOR.  If you wish to chastise someone,
  43. then do it via netmail, or netmail the Moderator so that he can take
  44. action.

  46. If a Topic or Thread is deemed off-topic by the Moderator, then take any
  47. discussion of such to netmail.

  49. Posting "test" messages, is considered annoying.  Test your mail software
  50. in a local conference, not this one.
  51.  
  52. If in the message header the "From:" field is an alias, then include
  53. your real name at the bottom of the message.
  54.  
  55. Moving mail costs SysOps money.  Duplicate headers, signatures and
  56. tag-lines are considered space wasters and should be avoided.  Please do
  57. not "sign" messages unless your header name is an alias or you wish to
  58. post your Internet Email address.  If you must use a signature and a
  59. tag-line, they should be: (1) limited to 4 lines, (2) limited to 240
  60. characters, (3) not contain "fancy ASCII-graphics", and (4) not
  61. duplicate information already in the standard Origin Line.

  63. When quoting, quote ONLY pertinent information to get the original point
  64. across.  Quoting entire messages, signature/tag/origin lines is
  65. very annoying.

  67. Discussion of routine Fidonet information should be discussed with your
  68. SysOp or NC, not in this conference.
  69.  
  70. Eight-bit ASCII characters (>128) or ASCII control codes are not
  71. permitted, either in the message header, body, or tag/origin line, or
  72. cut/pastes from screen captures.
  73.  
  74. Origin lines must follow accepted Fidonet Echomail Policy.
  75.  
  76. Although this is an International Conference in nature, ENGLISH is the
  77. official accepted language.

  79. This conference may NOT be ported to any other network without the
  80. express written permission of the Moderator.

  82. Questioning Moderator Policy in the DOS_INTERNET echo shall be
  83. considered excessively annoying.  Please use NETMAIL or Internet email.
  84. The Moderator is always open to discussion of echo policy and accepts
  85. suggestions and comments via NETMAIL or EMAIL.

  87. The Moderators may take part in active discussion in the echo without
  88. necessarily acting in any official capacity, unless the message is
