  9. This is the National Cooking Echo.  It is a non-region specific conference

  11. dedicated to all persons interested in cooking and/or food related topics.

  13. The National Cooking Echo may not be gated without the moderator's
  14.  
  15. permission.

  21. 1.  Topics may be broad, but the common theme shall remain cooking. This
  22.  
  23.     may include recipes, appliances, utensils, cook books, food history,
  24.  
  25.     etc. The discussion of the benefits of herbs for medicinal purposes
  26.  
  27.     is off topic, as are the benefits or recipes of any illegal or
  28.  
  29.     controlled substances. Discussion of brewing and distilling alcohol
  30.  
  31.     is not allowed, however, the discussion of which wines to serve with
  32.  
  33.     various dishes is allowed.

  37. 2.  Avoid excessive quoting. Try to quote enough of the message so that
  38.  
  39.     the person you are responding to understands the reply. Change the
  40.  
  41.     subject line when it no longer applies to the message.

  45. 3.  The number of recipes per message must be limited to one, or two
  46.  
  47.     very short recipes.  As a rule of thumb, if two recipes exceed 100
  48.  
  49.     lines in message length, it would be better to post them in two
  50.  
  51.     messages.

  55. 4.  DON'T get personal!  Personal attacks (Flames), and Profanity are
  56.  
  57.     unnecessary and unwelcome in this conference.

  61. 5.  NO religion, theology, doctrine or biblical references are to be

  63.     discussed or debated. No political debates will be tolerated. No
  64.  
  65.     racial, ethnic or religious slurs will be tolerated.

  69. 6.  The official language of the echo is English. Please do not post
  70.  
  71.     messages, recipes or anything else in any other language.

  83. 9.  Handles and/or Aliases allowed if they are a normal part of your

  85.     BBSing. However, you must post your real first and last name at end

  91. 10. As stated in rule 6, the only language of the echo is English.

  93.     However, there are many foreign words which are common in cooking

  95.     terminology. For this reason, occasional and limited use of the

  97.     extended character set (i.e. high ascii) is allowed in messages and
  98.  
  99.     recipes *only* in appropriate context, e.g. foreign words, degree
  100.  
  101.     symbols and currency signs. High ascii fractions are not allowed
  102.  
  103.     because some BBS software transforms them into whole numbers.

  107.     The use of the extended character set (ascii codes 127 and above),
  108.  
  109.     the control characters (ascii codes 31 and below), or ansi escape
  110.  
  111.     code sequences for artistic purposes is *not* allowed in messages or
  112.  
  113.     signature blocks.

  117. 11. NO advertisements of any kind (including BBS ads) allowed, with the
  118.  
  119.     following exception: ONE advertisement of new cooking related
  120.  
  121.     software is allowed. You may NEVER advertise ANYTHING to sell in the

  127. 12. The change in moderators will be done in accordance with the current
  128.  
  129.     Echopol rules.  In the event that there is no concise and clear rule
  130.  
  131.     in existence at the time of the change, the current moderator will

  133.     post the requirements of the job and will ask for names of those

  135.     interested. The decision will be made, by the current moderator,
  136.  
  137.     from the names submitted.

  141.     The co-moderator will be offered the job of moderator before asking

  147. 13. These Guidelines are subject to change at any time. The moderator's
