  12. BLOWHARDS is a non-Backbone Echo distributed via past or present members
  13. for the purpose of microdebating non-important non-issues by
  14. self-appointed 'sealawyer-type' Sysops of FidoNet most of whom have
  15. recently migrated into FidoNet from military bases or walks of life
  16. where personal power was denied to them.
  17.  
  18. This Echo serves to relieve the crap level from the real Echos [like ZEC
  19. or MODERATOR] where nitpickers previously plied their dissatisfaction
  20. with FidoNet and real world ops.
  21.  
  22. It is modeled on a previous and similarly designed local Echo called
  23. R18COORD which was a circular flame Echo for dissatisfied Net
  24. Coordinators in Region 18 to bitch and moan about standard FidoNet ops
  25. they didn't agree with.
  26.  
  27. Blowhards are concentrated in New Jersey but are also found in Texas,
  28. Missouri, New York, Oklahoma, and Alabama among others. You probably
  29. have Blowhards in your own Net. Most Nets do.
  30.  
  31. Blowhards can be identified in FidoNet Echos by their
  32. self-referential and circularly reinforcing rhetorical style as well as
  33. the number of ad hominems per Echo message. Masters of the 'Big Lie'
  34. school of revisionist history, Blowhards seldom recognize themselves
  35. even upon detection and notification.
  36.  
  37. Now, this is their own Echo to pollute and in which they may be
  38. blissfully content to continue fantasizing they have any inkling of what
  39. FidoNet is or does. [But don't count on it.]
  40.  
  41. Rules:
  42.  
  43. 1.  Blowhards always pontificate and expound in circles so please try
  44.     to be circumspect and self-referential. Get your fellow Blowhards
  45.     to repeat your 'thoughts' as if they were facts many times.
  46.  
  47. 2.  Blowhards always use personal attack by preference over facts or
  48.     logic so please try to be rude and nonsensical.
  49.  
  50. 3.  Blowhards always complain about the work other folks do but never
  51.     do any work of their own so please tear down the efforts of others.
  52.  
  53. 4.  Blowhards always claim to be 'protecting Sysops' or 'protecting
  54.     FidoNet' from 'power mongers and control freaks' while acting just
  55.     like power mongers and control freaks so please make authoritative
  56.     pronouncements in the name of 'saving' FidoNet from the people who
  57.     do the actual work of FidoNet.

  59. 5.  Blowhards always create more traffic and perpetuate more arguments
  60.     than normal Sysops so please argue for the sake of seeing your name
  61.     in print and please cross-post all your traffic to at least four
  62.     more Echos that have nothing to do with the current subject being
  63.     argued.

  65. 6.  Blowhards always whine about other folks whining so always pretend
  66.     to be injured whenever called about your own whining.
  67.  
  68. 7.  Blowhards always claim Policy is the be-all and end-all in FidoNet
  69.     and discount the spirit of cooperation and friendliness FidoNet is
  70.     actually based on so please cite actual and imagined Policy sections
  71.     regardless of applicability to the subject at hand while doing all
  72.     you can from keeping any real Policy changes or adjustments from
  73.     occurring.

  75. 8.  Blowhards perseverate at all times over trivial items so please
  76.     remember to ignore any corrections or substance in replies and stick
  77.     to belaboring points that are irrelevant to any discussion.

  79. 9.  Blowhards have no concept of humor, its application, or its useage
  80.     so please take every indication of humor in the traffic of others
  81.     as a deliberate and cynical attempt to personally wound you.
  82.  
  83. 10. Blowhards don't know they are Blowhards so please use this Echo as
  84.     soon as it is pointed out to you by a normal Sysop that you belong
  85.     in the BLOWHARDS Echo.

  87. Anyone who posts reasonable or logical traffic in this Echo will receive
  88. endless warnings until their access is suddenly revoked one day without
  89. notice. Anyone who complains about this Echo elsewhere will be sent
  90. here because they obviously belong here.

  92. The Moderator of this Echo will be soley responsible for every Blowhard
  93. that posts here and will be determined by message volume and vitriol.
