While THE BIBLE welcomes participation by all persons, regardless of
religious persuasion, there are a few guidelines for posting on this
conference.
1. THE BIBLE Conference is intended for the discussion of Biblical
passages, from an evangelical perspective. While many different
views are sure to be presented (and this is encouraged), it is
expected that EVERYONE will respect each others opinions and ideas.
It is allowed to disagree with other users; however, PERSONAL
ATTACKS against individuals will not be tolerated. One personal
attack will result in a warning; further violations of this guideline
will result in having your access to this conference permanently
terminated.
2. THE BIBLE Conference recognizes that there are many modern translations
of the Bible available. While discussions comparing the rendering of
various Biblical passages is encouraged, this conference is not the
place to preach the merits of any of particular translation. While some
will contend that the Bible is "inerrant in the original manuscripts"
it is recognized that these are NOT available to us. Therefore,
use whatever translation you are comfortable with hen quoting citations
in your posts. We will limit our discussion to the 66 books of
Scripture found in the Protestant Canon (with apologies to our Roman
Catholic and Anglican friends who also use the Apocryphal books from
time to time).
3. Discussions on THE BIBLE Conference are intended to help persons come
to a deeper understanding of and appreciation for the Bible. You may
express whatever ideas and opinions you have, providing you can
demonstrate a Biblical basis for your view. Opinions that have not
been well thought out are generally unreliable!
4. Please DO NOT enter multi-part messages (i.e. 1 of 2, 2 of 2, etc.)
THE-BIBLE echo is for discussion. . .if you are posting multiple-part
messages, it is very likely you are not discussing with us. You are
probably preaching to us. Refer to Rule #3 above regarding: a.) the
intention of THE BIBLE Conference; and, b.) your opinions and ideas.
5. Advertisements for particular churches or church related events ARE
NOT PERMITTED on this conference. While we wish to offer our support
and encouragement to all of our fellow Christians, that is simply not
the purpose of this conference.
6. The guidelines of THE BIBLE Conference are NOT subject to discussion
in THE BIBLE Conference. NETMAIL messages or public notices of violation
of these guidelines from THE BIBLE Conference moderator are also NOT
subject to discussion in THE BIBLE Conference. If you have a question,
please submit it to the moderator.
This Echo is being distributed to the various FIDONET backbones under the
condition that the moderators are in total control of the echo.
