  10.            Rules for the Fidonet BBS Internet Apps Conference

  13. NOTE: This conference is *restricted* to SysOps and developers ONLY.
  14.       Others may access this conference as READ-ONLY.
  15.  
  16. In compliance with Fidonet Echo Policy, the following will be posted at
  17. least once a month.  These rules are in addition to any valid Fidonet
  18. rules or policy.  They may be updated at any time by the Moderator.

  20. ALL USERS WHO POST IN THIS CONFERENCE MUST AGREE TO ABIDE BY THE RULES
  21. STATED HEREIN AND ALL PREVAILING FIDONET RULES AND POLICY.

  23. This is the International Fidonet Echomail Conference BBS_INTERNET.
  24. It is paid for by individual systems who help distribute it.  Please follow
  25. Conference Rules to help keep moving BBS_INTERNET as cost effective as
  26. possible.

  28. The Fidonet Echomail Conference BBS_INTERNET is an echomail conference
  29. provided by the Fidonet amateur e-mail network.
  30.  
  31. General discussion of cross-platform BBS<->Internet applications for BBS
  32. Sysops are permitted.  This conference is meant for a meeting place for
  33. SysOps and developers to exchange helpful ideas and discussion of
  34. different operating systems relating to connecting their BBS system
  35. to the Internet.  This is not a place to compare operating systems or to
  36. promote the "my operating system is better than your operating system"
  37. argument.  Also, DOS-related discussions are on-topic, but might be better
  38. served in the sister conference DOS_INTERNET.
  39.  
  40. No advertising is permitted.  This includes, but is not limited to,
  41. commercial products/services, BBS notices, BBS/other Files Lists. If you
  42. wish to claim an exception, please seek Moderator approval via netmail
  43. in advance of posting of such.

  45. Flames or obscenities are not permitted either in posted or quoted form.
  46.  
  47. LEAVE MODERATING TO THE MODERATOR.  If you wish to chastise someone,
  48. then do it via netmail, or netmail the Moderator so that he can take
  49. action.

  51. If a Topic or Thread is deemed off-topic by the Moderator, then take any
  52. discussion of such to netmail.

  54. Posting "test" messages, is considered annoying.  Test your mail software
  55. in a local conference, not this one.
  56.  
  57. If in the message header the "From:" field is an alias, then include
  58. your real name at the bottom of the message.
  59.  
  60. Moving mail costs SysOps money.  Duplicate headers, signatures and
  61. tag-lines are considered space wasters and should be avoided.  Please do
  62. not "sign" messages unless your header name is an alias or you wish to
  63. post your Internet Email address.  If you must use a signature and a
  64. tag-line, they should be: (1) limited to 4 lines, (2) limited to 240
  65. characters, (3) not contain "fancy ASCII-graphics", and (4) not
  66. duplicate information already in the standard Origin Line.

  68. When quoting, quote ONLY pertinent information to get the original point
  69. across.  Quoting entire messages, signature/tag/origin lines is
  70. very annoying.

  72. Discussion of routine Fidonet information should be discussed with your
  73. SysOp or NC, not in this conference.

  75. Eight-bit ASCII characters (>128) or ASCII control codes are not
  76. permitted, either in the message header, body, or tag/origin line, or
  77. cut/pastes from screen captures.

  79. Origin lines must follow accepted Fidonet Echomail Policy.

  81. Although this is an International Conference in nature, ENGLISH is the
  82. official accepted language.

  84. This conference may NOT be ported to any other network without the
  85. express written permission of the Moderator.

  87. Questioning Moderator Policy in the BBS_INTERNET echo shall be
  88. considered excessively annoying.  Please use NETMAIL or Internet email.
  89. The Moderator is always open to discussion of echo policy and accepts
  90. suggestions and comments via NETMAIL or EMAIL.

  92. The Moderator may take part in active discussion in the echo without
  93. necessarily acting in any official capacity, unless the message is
