This is the FidoNet International Echomail conference BATPOWER.
This echo is for civilized, mature discussion.
Please treat others with the same respect that you expect.
| *** Last revision: 27 Aug 97 ***
* English is the official echo language. *
-> All users who have access to this echo must read this.
-> By posting messages in the echo, you agree to accept and abide
-> by the rules of this conference as here posted.
In compliance with FidoNet Echo Policy, the conference rules will be
posted no less than once each month, and nothing in these rules will
supersede or replace any valid FidoNet rule or policy.
This Conference is dedicated to:
Batch File programming under MS/PC-DOS - all reasonable versions. It is
also used to talk about DOS enhancement programs (RONSET, 4DOS, etc.).
While DOS is the primary OS, all other BATCH-related topics for all OS's
are welcomed. Extra credit is given to those that are able to show how
these other related topics can be used in batch files. {^; There is a
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) file...BAT-FAQ1.ZIP...available thru the
BFDS sites (see the next main paragraph below the rules).
Echo rules:
- Stick with the topic of the Echo.
- Leave MODERATING to the MODERATOR(s).
- Ignore all offtopic posts - including "Tests".
- Quote only that which ties to your reply--stop QUOTAHOLISM
- If your msg is just a thank you, use Netmail. Exception: if you are
thanking multiple users (same thread) post one msg, naming all of them.
- If your "From: " is an alias, include your real name in the msg.
If you have a compelling reason not to, please mail it to the moderator.
- Don't request routine FidoNet info here, ask your Sysop/local net.
- No unsolicited BBS ads
- The posting of "test" msgs is considered annoying behavior.
- Use Netmail for corresponding to the moderator; don't discuss echo
policy in the open echo.
- The 'scripting' of essential & original pgms should be in accord with
the separate "Scripting guidelines".
- Don't type in all upper case unless your equipment can't do lower, or a
physical limitation is the reason.
- Don't use multi-line signatures, this only fuels the phone bill$.
- No gratuitous high-order ASCII characters-(>127) or ASCII CTRL codes.
- Telephone numbers: don't forget the country and area codes.
|- BATPOWER may not be ported or gated to any non-Fido network's mail
| system without the express written consent of the moderator.
- Propose changes to the above by Netmail/E-mail to the moderator.
Thanks to the efforts of Dennis Powers (1:141/1135.0) we also have the BFDS
(Batch Files Distribution System) sites - a network of boards around the
world, participating in the distribution of batch-related files and
utilities. The BFDS is an adjunct of this echo, and is carried by the
FidoNet Filebone, Planet Connect Satellite & USR FileGate Project.
The BFDS Archives are also available at http://www.uxbinfo.com
or by anonymous FTP from: FTP://www.uxbinfo.com.
For more info or how to join (or access) BFDS contact Dennis, its
Coordinator, at his above Fido address, or
E-mail: Dennis.Powers@gsbsc.gensig.com
or...the entire file bone is available at http://www.ftbbs.com/.
Click on Filebone and then any FDN, such as BFDS, with all the files
available for download.
That's all folks, thanks for reading, thanks for carrying BATPOWER (and
hopefully the BFDS) and may the Power of Bat be with you...:-)
Sysops:
I suggest that this message be available to users in whatever way your
software provides, so that new users can't miss it.
The Moderator reserves the right to take part in any discussions on the
echo, without regard to his status as Moderator. When he is acting
specifically as Moderator, he will sign his message as:
