  5. OVERVIEW
  6. ========
  7.  
  8. There are three levels of access to the WWW Configuration utility.
  9.  
  10. Normal users can setup account features, like a forwarding address, holiday or
  11. plan message. They can also change their password. The status of their
  12. POP account can be checked, giving them the number of unread messages, and
  13. a list of mail messages retained in their POP account. Clicking on the list will
  14. display the message or instruct the web browser to mail the sender. The
  15. POP account can also be cleared.
  16.  
  17. Domain administrators are given the rights to administer users in their own
  18. domain.This includes the rights to change existing user accounts - resetting
  19. passwords, changing aliases; disabling or deleting accounts. New users can be
  20. added to their domain.
  21.  
  22. Administators are given additional features. These include rights to ammend
  23. users in all domains, maintain logging and alert events, and to set system level
  24. NT Mail options. Logging can be done at the user level or at the action level.
  25. Every user action is able to be logged. In addition a single line email can be sent
  26. to a designated account for each event.

  29. INSTALL
  30. =======
  31. To install, copy the .DLLs into your Windows NT System32 directory.  Next copy 
  32. MAILCONF.EXE to a directory of your choice and type:
  33.     MailConf -i
  34. Goto the conrol panel and you will see a new service in the Service Icon called
  35. "NTMail WWW Configuration".  Start the service and then point your WWW broswer
  36. to:    
  37.     http://localhost:8000
  38. to get the entry page.

  41. UNINSTALL

  43. Stop the Service and then type:
  44.     mailconf -u
  45.

  47. HOW IT WORKS
  48. ============
  49. When you log on to the WWW Server, it takes your username and password to
  50. verify you have the correct privilidge to continue.  If your user name has
  51. the same name as the postmaster as set in the NTMail CPL, you will be given
  52. the privilidge to create users in any domain.  In addition, you can promote
  53. users in each domain to control that particular domain.

  81. NOTES

  84. 1.  This version only supports minimal logging, and won't display the NT Mail log
  85.     files. 
  86.  
  87. 2.  Multiple Internet Mail Domains.
  88.     If the NT user database is used on a multiple mail domain site, the standard way
  89.     to identify the user's mail domain is to make the user a member of a local
  90.     NT group (i.e. add a group name "company.co.uk"). This will be picked up
  91.     correctly if the group's comment description has either of the words "mail" or
  92.     "domain" in it.

  94. 3.  Alert Messages
  95.     It is possible to send a one line email alert message to the system administrator.
  96.     User the Administrator menu to configure Alert logging. This is indepemdent of 
  97.     file logging.
