Received this through e-mail. By the way, I recall seeing a site that
sells Commodore chips. Unfortunately, I didn't save the site name into my
bookmark file and it's not in Brain's Commodore links. Does anyone know
what I'm talking about? It appeared int the comp.sys.cbm newsgroup.

I clicked on "Gaelynn", I thought? Anyway: I need a couple of 4032 main
PCB's serviced. I have been using first an old 4016-N (the only one which
still works!) to run a small CNC lathe I cobbled, and then a couple of 4032's
which I got "new" for $100 each (in factory cartons!) when DBM shut down.
These died, finally. Oh, one still "comes up", but it gets confused when
loading a 6502-code via "POKE" from BASIC (it seems to think bit-6 ("64") is
hi, when finding ASC of letters). The other one seems totally confused!
Point is, my NEEDED machinery is "down" without a working PET (well, the old
4016 kinda works, but with the older CBM BASIC and 1/2 the RAM, it jus' ain't
the same!), I am in a mess! It will be SO much hassle to retrofit a "PC" to
the machine (but I have an ISA board already designed to function as the old
PET's "PUP" did!), and I will have to "type-in" all the BASIC programs!
(Disks are not swappable to PC, of course!). PLEASE, PLEASE TELL ME WHAT TO
DO? Thanks! Jan Rowland

Subject: CommNet
Hello all!
A while back we were discussing CommNet and utilizing/supporting it
with my BBS. Someone, at the time, mentioned who and where I should get
in touch with to get the information I would need to do so. I thought I
had it saved, but I've searched all my packets to no avail. Could that
person please relay that information to me once again?? Thanks...

Actually. The EX2+1 from CMD, or the Skyles 2+1, both have a connector at
the end, so one of the three slots lies flat.
That is what I've seen most people with BBSes (which use REUs) use, as it
allows for the REU to be stable as well...
Hope this helps. ;)

From: carrillo@CARRILLO.TINKER.AF.MIL
Hi everybody,
I have a Zoltrix 14.4 external modem attached to my Swiftlink
cartridge and using NovaTerm 9.5. At speeds above 4800 baud, it
seems like the computer can't keep up. I see the stuff come in,
but the lines break, I lose data, and above 9600, I get nothing but
garbage. Any suggestions?
You need to make sure your modem is set to do Hardware Flow Control
(RTS/CTS), and also set Novaterm to do it (I'm not sure where the
setting is, but it's there.). To set the modem correctly, use this
god-awful-long modem init string:
AT&FW2&C1&D2&K3&Q5S7=60S36=7S46=138S48=7S95=47
If you do an AT&W after typing that in, it should be saved as the
default for future use.
Another thing I can't find is a setting in NovaTerm for 14.4. Do I
set it for 28.8? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You don't want to set it to 14.4. Set it to 19200 or 38400. The
transfer rate between modem and computer needs to be faster than the
modem-modem rate, to handle compression and signalling. If it'll
handle 38400, set it to that.
