  16. Hi everybody,

  18.      I have a Zoltrix 14.4 external modem attached to my Swiftlink
  19. cartridge and using NovaTerm 9.5.  At speeds above 4800 baud,
  20. it seems like the computer can't keep up.  I see the stuff come in,
  21. but the lines break, I lose data, and above 9600, I get nothing
  22. but garbage.  Any suggestions?  Another thing I can't find is a
  23. setting in NovaTerm for 14.4.  Do I set it for 28.8?  Any help
  24. would be greatly appreciated.

  51. Well, that's the part I was trying to quote.  You need to run the
  52. config.edit program, and look for the settings for the Swiftlink
  53. device.  (The config file cannot be edited by hand; it's a binary.)  I
  54. don't remember which device the SL is by default, but it's the one
  55. that has "0-device driver type" set to "6".

  57. Then you need to set the other things for that device:
  58.  
  59. 1 device primary address
  60.   (SwiftLink: I/O page of hardware)
  61.  
  62.         This is the IO page, normally set to "$de".
  63.  
  64. 2 device secondary address
  65.   (SwiftLink: size of receive buffer in pages)
  66.  
  67.         This is the size of the receive buffer.  I set this to 4,
  68.         meaning a buffer of 1024 bytes; if you are low on memory,
  69.         leave it at 1.

  73.         This is the main one you're concerned about.  It's a bitfield,

  85. I have this byte on mine set to "$0d", for 8N1 parity, normal clock
  86. speed, and 38400bps DTE speed.

  88.    Another question I'd REALLY like to figure out is how to get ACE to
  89.    load some files into RAMdisk automatically on bootup.  Someone told
  90.    me it can be done, but how do you do this?

  92. Create/modify the file ".ashrc".  This file is run on startup, as a
  93. shell script.  Here's mine as an example:

  210. Be sure you have the RTS/CTS option turned on in your settings. Also, be
  211. sure your modem has hardware flow control turned on.

  219. is. Anyway, set Novaterm for 38.4k speeds.
