Isn't V-Tech around? I lost their address...it's a ribbon supply house
in Pensylvania...Hatfield I think...
They had ribbons for the 803 when I couldnT find one...

Is it possible to send an e-mail to someone and attach a Commodore type
file to it? This might help Chris McCloud get the Omega Q-II he
wants...because I have it but no way to DCC it due to our version of the
IRC client.

Subject: Any one have a C= compatible printer?
My 10 year old nephew just received his first computer (a C64 from
me!), but he needs a printer to go with it.
Anyone out there have a C= compatible printer he could purchase for
the price of shipping?
If you live in the bay area (SF, Oakland, etc) that would be the best
because of little or no shipping costs. He's only 10, and doesn't
have a steady income! ;-)
I am SO excited to set him up on his first computer as a Commodore!!!
I have learned SO much from mine!
Anything else you would be willing to give him would be greatly
appreciated as well.
I am still using my other 64, and hope to see him get years of
enjoyment/use out of his.! :-)

PS He will be using PocketWriter so a printer compatible with that
would be preferable.

Chris,
I don't have a printer I can part with, but I do have several printer
interfaces that I could send for the price of shipping...if that helps.

Zelch is not temporarily down. It's gone for good. It was only up for a
couple months or something.
I only tried it once. Dumbly, I never tried it again.

This is described in the current C=Hacking issue, isn't it?

de Hat,
It is possible to uuencode the file and mail it to Mr. McLeod he
could then download (or buffer) the mail, edit it for program only
content, and uudecode it. There is a program called uuxfer.sda(?) on
either Funet or U of Waterloo which will uuencode/decode files. Of
course, if Mr. McLeod cannot get to either of these FTP sites to get
Omega-Q II for himself, then he would not be able to get the uuxfer
program either, which brings you back to square one.
Another option is to both utilize a name brand BBS on the internet
(on each end) and utilize thier mail w/ attachments utilities (like
MajorBBS (tm)). This would allow him to DL the file without having to
edit and all the other stuff. To locate MajorBBS's (tm) in your area,
telnet to gcomm.com and check the BBS lists.
And, then, of course, the traditional snail mail method always works
(well, almost <eg>)...
Hope that helps...

Yes, this is possible. I attach CommNet packets to Internet email for
one of the nodes. I download it to the PC and attach it to email. The
packets are in PETSCII format and make the trip just fine. The other node
simply downloads the file to their Commodore and its in tact. Same goes
for any Commodore PRG file. No uuencoding necessary.

Yes Tony, I would be interested in telling my nephew of a price on a
printer interface. What interfaces do you have? Any idea how much it
might cost to ship?
