If I wanted it, Chris, I'd ask for it. You can ask for it if you want,
but it's not something I'm interested in.

"BTW, I kinda resent you inferring that I want Concentric to recompile
lynx with something that you want. Lynx works fine for me, and I have
no plans for banking using it. I think we were damn lucky to get what
we have, and with the system not working correctly, the last thing I
want is for something that already works fine to get broken."
I most sincerely apologize for making the inference. My only thought
was that it would be something that might prove helpful to you as
well.
BTW, I tried lynx.25 last night and it worked like a CHARM!! :-) I
had no problem whatsoever "spawning messages."
One question though. The previous version of lynx gave me multicolor.
With 2.5 I only get 2 colors. Is there a way I can modify my
personal options so as to have multicolors again? My term is set to
ANSI (within NT that is).
Also, what are the primary advantages of 2.5 over the previous
version?
Just curious! :-)

Subject: Star NX1000C printer
Anyone know much about Star printers? I just bought this one used a few
weeks ago. No manual included. I am wondering if anyone can tell me
anything about it. Most people probably have better printers than this
one, but the one I had before was far worse. It was incapable of
different fonts and had only one button on it. So I have no experience
with using different printers.
Is there anything particular I can do with this Star printer. Anything I
should be aware of.
It took me several weeks for me to realize how to even get paper into
this thing. There were two or three slots I was trying to put it into,
but it just wouldn't go through. Then a couple days ago I started
pulling on a section of the printer in the back. I didn't realize it was
supposed to come off before, and it did take a lot of pulling to pull it
off. So with that part finally removed, I can finally insert some paper.
What do the buttons do, such as the on-line button on the right?

Hi Adam,
I have had an NX1000 for quite some time now, and like
it a lot.

It is compatable with a lot of software, including Geos and PrintShop.
It has internal fonts, standard or NLQ.

If the light is blinking, than the printer is in pause mode, so you can
change paper or whatever. Just press it when ready.

I notice that you have received many replies to this original
post. This is just my 2 bits worth.
I run both a CMD and Lt. Kernel hard drive. I run my bbs off a
105 meg LTK and love the kernel. Because the LTK is a parallel device, it
runs MUCH faster than a serial drive. The CMD comes new running from the
serial port. However, you can get a parallel cable for the CMD as well.
The only drawback to running a parallel hard drive, is that you cannot use
something such as the Swiftlink.
My CMD is a 40 megger, that I use as a backup for my board. I
also have a 40 meg LTK that I use for my personal use.
Another thing to think about, is how you are going to use the hard
drive. If you wish to use GEOS a lot, then the CMD is the hard drive for
you. If you want to use CP/M, then the LTK is the hard drive to use.
Neither of these programs will run off the other hard drive.
The LTK has a part of it called ICUB (pronounced ice-cube). This
will allow you to capture most copy protected software and run it off the
LTK. The only problem, is you cannot copy the program to disk to run.
ICUB writes the program to the hard drive as a relative file, and you have
to make a boot program (no real problems there) to run the copied file.
The CMD works well with Maverick, and the LTK has a really fast
copy program called 'Fastcopy'. I love it when I back up my BBS.
Well, that is my 2 bits worth for now.

Tom G.,
Are you saying that the CMD will appear on the desktop as a 40 meg
drive icon? :-)
Do set up the CMD as drive #8, 9, etc?
If so, does that mean that it is drive 8 or 9 for any application
(Novaterm, GEOS, basic programs, etc.)?
Are the partitions/folders that GEOS sets up be in existence when not
using GEOS?
You mentioned that the serial connection was much slower than the
parallel connection. What speed of drive (1541, 1571, or 1581) would
you compare the serial connection with? the parallel?
Thank you SO much! :-)
Hey, I visited your Home Page last night. very nice! :-)
