  14.  Sorry for the lag time in reply... I'm taking classes again 2 nights
  15.  a week...  I get up at 4:20 am, walk 4 miles(every day), then go to 
  16.  work.... I get to work at 6:30 and leave around 4:15.... and frequently
  17.  get called at home in the evenings and on weekends (even on vacation)...
  18.  also have a new baby.  I believe I'm just as busy as everyone else, but
  19.  I also feel it is important to respond.... so I'm sorry it took a couple
  20.  days... just glad I didn't forget. :)

  28.  I found the problem I was having w/dLG... it is not the NMI handler but
  29.  the music code that plays when connected... I disabled it on a hunch and 
  30.  got on immediately.  That makes things a LOT easier to fix.  This may be
  31.  a relaxing weekend after all!

  43.  I think I have all the bugs out, something else pops up :(  But
  44.  then some of the extra time spent coding is my fault.  The more I
  45.  use and test ScriptMaker I think of things to change or add and 
  46.  end up coding and testing that too, more often than not, fixing it
  47.  when it doesn't work the way I want ;>

  74.  now, I am having modem problems as well as trying to find a new term to
  75.  use. I do not want to use RTCM without paying for it if it is unfair to
  76.  you. If RTCM v2.02 was shareware, and just was not properly labeled (IMO),
  77.  I still should pay if I am going to use it. I am certainly not going to
  78.  hold you to something like... "Well, I got it unlabeled, therefore I don't
  79.  have to pay." If you simply MEANT for it to be shareware, that is enough
  80.  for me. I know that you are stuck right in the middle. That's not fair. So
  81.  I really, truely, do not know what to do. If this paragraph seems to be
  82.  going around in circles, that's because that is what I am doing :/ No
  83.  matter what I do, someone is going to be hurt.

  89.  That's Steve Hudgik's position in his book. He says authors should help
  90.  unregistered users, not scream at them to register first. His basic
  91.  position is that if users don't pay for programs, it is not the user's
  92.  fault, its the programmer's fault. If the programmer does not get $, he is
  93.  not MARKETING himself properly. If you go into the HOSB, or read Steve's
  94.  book, the main emphasis is not on programming, it is on marketing. (BTW,
  95.  the ASP is a private area. But there is another area for non-ASP shareware
  96.  authors.)

  140.  I have been working on a script to logon to GEnie via sprint.  I have 
  141.  gotten sprint to take the '@H' now, but when I get to the 
  142.  'TERMINAL=' prompt, it won't take the 'd1' (or 'D1' for that matter) at
  143.  all... RTCM just keeps on answering the prompt with the correct response
  144.  and sprint just ignores it... if I go to the terminal mode screen and
  145.  type it in, it works more reliably, but still not at 100%.  anyone have 
  146.  any idea why this is?  This is at 14.4, but I can't see where that makes
  147.  a difference because it sees the prompt characters properly and we are
  148.  only transmitting 2 characters at the most.... and it does take the
  149.  '@H' every time w/o fail... what is going on??????

  156.         Are you using Alladin on the Amiga? If you are why do you use a 2400
  157. modem if you have a 14.4 on the 128? I assume the 14.4 is a IBM type. It
  158. should work fine on the Amiga.

  171.  down the output considerably  (character and line pause)  in order for
  172.  the system to recognize  anything after the @H.

  181.  I have tried delays after character..... but I do want to stress that 
  182.  RTcM recognizes the character and responds to it each time.  It just
  183.  seems that unless I enter the keys from one of RTcm's non-chat
  184.  windows, sprintnet does not recognize it.  I'll try again w/the delays.
  185.  but I have typed it faster than when I slowed it down and it did not
  186.  work... back to the drawing board.  The killer is that there are only
  187.  2 prompts I have to negotiate to get to the U#= prompt!  Darn1

  194.  their Ymodem closer to what it should be.... I *thought* I saw this
  195.  the other day, but being that I'm testing I wasn't sure I was

  198.  GEnie is now stepping down to 128 byte blocks when there is less than a
  199.  full 1024 bytes remaining to be sent... RTCM has been written to do (and
  200.  accept) this from the very start.  It is great that GEnie is now 
  201.  finally supporting it... now if they would just give us the ability to
  202.  UPLOAD using Ymodem!

  208. ==HELP== Received RTCM 3.04 disk aweek ago. Tried to run it from time to time
  209. since.  But I can't get EZ.BOOT to run properly.  After a few seconds, (it
  210. appears to start at line 161 or 165) the screen goes black and  fills with
  211. light blue zeroes. :(

  213. The program keeps running and letters start replacing some of the zeroes (the
  214. appear to be gibberish).  Soont the screen turns black (the zeroes are still
  215. light blue), the program proceeds to initialize the modem and dial the phone. 
  216. At that point I punch STOP.
  217.  The program listing at 160-165 looks OK.

  288.  Thanks to help from someone in GEmail, I have solved the sprintnet
  289.  logon by adding a n &i2 command in my modem init string... works great
  290.  now... every once in awhile it doesn't see the '@H' and I hve to log
  291.  off (the modems do connect) and dial again, but it works the next time.
  292.  I'm very happy with this...

  294.  The uploading I have got a handle on by using &r0 to disable the flow
  295.  control...

  298.  transfer stuff on my end before GEnie tells me it is ready or it times out

  306.         I have been using 3.0, and except for that one weird thing awhile back
  307. its been going good. Today I just started using using some of the other mods
  308. for it besides the stuff for hosting. I am using the copier overlay and the
  309. archiver. I made a profiles for each but when I load the 2nd one it does not
  310. effect any of the selected drives. Here is what I am trying to do
  311.  
  312.         1. using the copier overlay to copy from a 1571 to my
  313.            Ramlink, the 81 is device 19,RL is device 16 going
  314.            to partiton number 2,which is 81 partition.
  315.  
  316.         2. Using the Archiver overlay to go from the Ramlink
  317.            Partition #2 to my cmd hd partiton number 19 using
  318.            the parallel cable.
  319.  
  320. What happens is when I switch overlays it uses the previsouly selected drive
  321. number for source and target,I tried to load the profile before and after
  322. loading the next overlay that I want to use.

  328. I also have a SL installed connected to a 14,400 modem with a REU install and

  350.  everything.  That is what I get from your message too, that what is 
  351.  happening is what it is supposed to be doing.

  367.  I have started work on 3.02.  The changes to it are the flow control, as
  368.  I just mentioned, the editing of the ALT menu will be gone too.  It is
  369.  duplicated in the defaults menu and I needed the memory.  There are some
  370.  new functions added to the pulldown menu now that I have room to add 
  371.  them.  The dialer routines have been totally rewritten and I'm quite
  372.  happy with them... this also affects the fingertip overlay.  I'm having
  373.  some troubles with uploads, tho I hope to find a modem setting that will
  374.  fix that... I think I might have, but I want to concentrate on this 
  375.  flow control because I won't have the HS modem too much longer I'm 
  376.  afraid....

  378.  For Cam, I put in a new switch to turn on and off the 'doorbell' that
  379.  rings when someone enters a room.   This will allow you to keep the
  380.  bell on but the greeter off if you wish.

  382.  For R.KIRK, I added code to make the scroll key options changeable in
  383.  the buffer viewer.  This will be set in defaults... haven't coded the
  384.  latter part of that yet.

  386.  I also added a 'modem reset' string to the defaults file as part of the
  387.  new dialer routine which will also need code in defaults and bootset
  388.  to be adjusted.

  390.  Am adding a bell or whistle here and there too... o, and added a feature
  391.  that records corrupted files when 'verifying' archives.  I wasn't happy
  392.  that rtcm went thru the archive so fast that if bad archives were found
  393.  that might have been missed.  Now it will report those at the end of the
  394.  process...

  396.  Also removed the prompt from DataMover that GEnie removed from it's
  397.  process...

  399.  Also added a menu selection to allow execution of 'superscripts' using
  400.  the RTCM script language (to the autolog menu).  You won't be able to
  401.  dial using this technique, but you will be able to construct some 
  402.  VERY powerful scripts otherwise if you like.

  404.  Did a logon script that navigates the sprintnet logon sequence.  It
  405.  now works fine.

  426. Occasionaly  it doesn't realize it has connected- nothing is sent by the

  430. (If you remember I am using an APROTEK 2400 modem connected to an extension
  431. cable so this is a timing problem)

  433. A script delay capability might solve the problem- e.g. put a comma in the
  434. script and get a second delay or something similiar.
  435.  
  436. Any improvement in this area would help me greatly. It usually takes me about
  437. three calls before I get a script to execute correctly.

  470. I am not sure what your asking here, but here is what I am doing

  472. startup rtcm loading dflt.71torl loading copier overlay-do my thing loading
  473. dflt.bbsarchive. The drive setting here are NOT taking effect loading archiver
  474. overlay

  476. The way I made the dflt files was saving them from the overlay's that I want
  477. to use them with. But I do not understand the question you ask me so I don't
  478. know if that answers yours.

  514.  That has already been added as a matter of fact... tho it is only
  515.  operative for the string that gets sent when carrier is detected...
  516.  that is, the 'hhhhh' in the case of GEnie... and it is the ',' character.

  519.  you Greg.... and you are just expecting it to do something it is not
  520.  coded to do... one thing... your source device stuff is not saved in the
  521.  dflt. file anywhere.

  526.  archiver, your source and target will still be the same.  If you load

  529.  really missing the intent of your question, I'm satisfied that rtcm
  530.  works as it should wrt the device numbers and the overlays and dflt.

  542. :( I can use it with very little problem and have/will. I just think if you

  578.  Bottom line, there needs to be a BRIEF pause after recognizing the
  579.   CONNECT message before sending HHH. If it is sent too quickly, the host
  580.   really isn't ready yet.

  582.  The "connect" message is actually coming from the users modem. Depending on
  583.   how the modem itself is configured, this message MAY be delayed for a
  584.   significant period after the actual connection is made. This is
  585.   particularly the case with error correcting modems which have been set up
  586.   to report a whole series of connection information, such as LAP/M, etc. 
  587.  
  588.  It SEEMS that the timing on some nodes is more critical than on
  589.   others, and those messages can throw off the timing of the comm program
  590.   sufficiently a that the response from the program may be outside the window
  591.   where the node is willing to accept it.

  598. recognize the SprintNet prompts.   Setting it to &I2 worked like a charm. The

  627. the REU at 2400 and it worked perfectly... never lost a byte.  I used a disk
  628. Nate O'Neil sent me with that version on it, so it was not even my setup... it

  632. saved it to bank 1.  Then I checked both and they were ok.  Then I logged onto
  633. FIDO and let 'er rip.... I downloaded 2.5 buffers... the last 2 days worth of

  637. lost what you lost...

  640. Nate:  I was able to load and execute the stuff you sent me  just fine.. as
  641. mentioned above I used it to test the DMA autosaves.  What this suggests to me
  642. is that the 'sniff' routine seems not to be resetting your VDC after the test.
  643. It tests for the 64K vdc...  I'm reassembling the program now to fix something
  644. I did not like about control character stripping... I put in an explicit set
  645. of bank 15 prior to the call of the reset code.  I've had this be a problem
  646. before I seem to remember... for some reason, it allows the call to be made
  647. and return ok, but never does the operation.  If that is what is happening, it
  648. *might* explain why your VDC never gets reset with its original values.  Let
  649. me know if the new disk does the same thing, ok!  If it does, we'll have to
  650. disable that test with a poke and try some other tests.  That *may* be an easy
  651. test due to where it happens... in install.obj, which is a small setup file.

  660. I can't believed V3.01 worked OK for you. You said you tried it in Autosave
  661. mode which suggests you didn't do what I did. In anycase I saved four buffers
  662. full of messages which were supposed to go to my REU banks 0-3.

  665. I tried to read them by selecting CTR I via V3.1. When I loaded V2 and tried
  666. reading the banks I got about a third of what was my original 1st buffer.

  669. choose 'D' then '3'. Line 135 of the resulting MY.BOOT program comes out - 135

  677. saving the buffer to the REU banks.

  696.  can be deleted.  I was testing a new version of DataMover to be released
  697.  with 3.02.   This version allows you to upload your files from any drive
  698.  on your system.  Instead of typing in the names in your batches, you will
  699.  point and click to select them now and you can change drive/path settings
  700.  each time.  I wasn't going to do this, but the way I did it kind of 
  701.  overcame my objections.

  784. both BOOT.OVRL cause the MY.BOOT program to have an eroneous line 135. You
  785. must be using a different version than what you released.

  787. OK - On the buffer being lost - I think I found the problem. I used CTRL V to
  788. try and view the buffer instead of C= V (I found you changed the command after
  789. looking at the help file). That gave me a good buffer view from a load. I
  790. haven't tried a buffer capture yet but believ it will now work OK if I can
  791. just remember C= V.

  793. You should get rid of that CTRL V result. Try it - it seems to make the buffer
  794. go into a continuous loop when I try and view it.

  796. Another problem. While viewing the buffer I pressed the M key to mark a spot

  798. K to delete portions of the buffer. Both commands semed to put it into a loop
