- If there was an uploading contest for programmers, what would you like
- to see targeted, within reason. No 1,000 hour projects ;) Personally,
- I like C-64 demos. Is there anything you *really* want bad? Now is
- your chance to speak up.

- I would really like to see a modern "simple" terminal program in the vein of
- CCGMS for the 64. I think we have the full-featured complex ones pretty
- covered with Nova-Term, Dialgue, DesTerm, etc. But, a simple single-file
- terminal program that has modern features, and not too many bells and whistles
- would be a real help when I'm trying to teach beginners in my user group how
- to use on-line services.
-
- The features I'd like are in such a terminal are: - Small size - Swiftlink
- compatibility - At least two protocols - a buffer - At least ASCII and C/G
- supported
-
- If you've seen how simple CCGMS is, you sort of got a feeling about what I'm
- saying. I don't want it to be huge, do every protocol, have scripts, all
- that. Just a nice simple one to teach beginners on or to boot up when you
- just need to get on-line real quick without any frills.
-
- Of course, such a contest might produce a population explosion of terminal
- software. I almost have a feeling that a demo is about the only kind of
- program you could have a contest on. Demo's are largely disposable and you
- can view them and get rid of them if you want. Still, I'd like to see a
- programming project with some substance.
-
- Perhaps something simpler. Like a really nifty applet. An applet is a very
- small single-purpose applicatioin program. They can have one function or a
- veriety of functions, but have to be dedicated to something like disk drives,
- or text files, or something like that. I certainly wouldn't mind seeing a
- population explosion of clever little programs like that.

- I really can honestly say I haven't seen Fritzterm. Although, I'll have to
- admit it had real impressive transfer ratings on your list of term programs in
- issue #4 of Commodore World. It did better at transfers than Dialogue 128.
- I'll have to transfer it down and take a look at it. Now, if only Fritzterm
- was a 128 program and included hardware handshaking. By your articles accont
- it shared the same problem of handshaking with DESTerm, only having Xon/Xoff.

- to make PKUNZIP 2.04x for the Commodore. I wouldn't ask how soon it will be

- Doc.....There's also a version of Fritzterm that runs on the C128 in the C64
- mode but uses the 128's 80 column screen. The only problem with this version
- (FT80) is that it doesn't like RamLink. This program is very easy to use.
- Would

- Is the program till being supported? I always thought that using the 80
- column screen was a good option. I had hoped that Rossi of Novaterm would
- include a driver for the 128's 80 column screen.

- Thanks Tim and Cam.
-
- It looks like I can be optimistic then about a pkunzip.
-
- I won't hold my breath for the slip/ppp, however. As nice a guy as Jim is,

- seem to see their way to conclusion. Or, at least to useful applications for

- I just recently found a brand new copy of "Jim butterfield's Machine Language
- for the Commodore 64, 128 and other Commodore computers" at a new store called
- The Book Market here in Columbus for $3. There was at least a dozen or so

- So, you can imagine how surprised I was to walk in and find this book among

- Hi Everybody, I've been trying to locate information about the VIC-20 here
- on Genie, but I can't find anything. I have lots of carts for it and some
- cassette software, and even some disk software for it but I didn't see any
- thing in this library for it.
-
- I even have a 40/80 column card for the VIC. I think it is a great machine.
- Granted the standard text resolution leaves alot to be desired but it has the
- same keyboard as the C=64 and it loads disks faster.
-
- Anyway, does anybody know where I can find some P.D/Shareware/Freeware for the
- VIC-20? I would especially like a terminal program. I can download the program
- with my C=64.
-
- Thanks,
