Heheh, that is a good game. Was playing it last night for the first
time in years. I also liked the Legend of Blacksilver and a few others.
Sorry, not looking to get rid of my original. Last I looked Software
Support Int, had a few copies for sale.

I just got this Star printer used a while ago, and it came with no
manual. I am looking to get it working with my wordprocessors.
The printer selection screen for Pocket Writer II does not seem to have
my printer listed at all, or anything similar.
I also have Paperclip. This WP seems to have a printer file for a Star
printer, but not for the specific one I have. Paperclip seems to work OK
with this printer selection, but I just thought I'd ask in case I run
into problems later.
So does anyone have a printer driver file for either of those programs
for my printer?
- Adam
P.S. Anyone have a manual for a Star printer that they have no use for?

Ermm...Yes and No.
On the 8 bit...NO, sorry but AFAIK (99% sure) there have never been
any editors either Epyx or shareware. Such a shame as its an all time
fav of mine on both the Atari and the 64..That and Spelunker :)
The possible good news is that there is a version on the PC called
Jumpman Lives from Apogee which HAS an editor. Its a bit old now but
Im sure Apogee still will have it (well I hope so as im after it
myself!).
Its a very good version as well, rather than try and up the graphics
and sound to PC standard (IE ruin the game) the guy has kept the game
the same (levels on shareware version are identical) and just added
some so so start and end screens...
Hope this helps...

As if the Commodore 64 didn't need anymore Games publicity postings
(hehehe...more games!), here's comes another one courtesy of moi.
Anybody ever finish Spelunker on the 64? I've gotten down to the part
with the door, but I found only one key and couldn't open the door.
Also, in Ultima II, do you need a blank disk for the players? Mine came
with a player's disk, but I am afraid to write information on to it for
fear that it is a crucial disk for the game.

The PC version of Jumpman released by Apogee a long time
ago came with an editor (though it didn't support all the
"special" things such as the flying saucers).

Last time I read the Apogee FAQ, they said it was discontinued.
Read it again... I might be wrong, or they could have changed their minds.

You bet. Get an IEEE Quicksilver Flash interface. (I believe CMD sells
them).
There is also E-Link 128 that was made by Progressive Peripherals.
(hard to find.)
Quicksilver (Flash) is a plugin cartridge and ROM combo. You will have to
replace the 128 Kernal ROMs for it to work. (JDOS or other fast
load ROMs are incompatible).
E-Link is a serial port device in a VIC cartridge case. It is very,
very slow and most fast loaders hang it and the bus. (not the best
choice).
Flash is fairly compatible with most generic programs. Sure your
not going to run anything with a fast loader off the 8050, but most
word pros, terms, and other utilities run fine off the IEEE drives.
The only 128 program that has ever crashed just because the kernal
rom was replaced, is Desterm. I don't know if that is the case with
DesTerm V2 or not - I never bothered to run it after V1 crashed with
it.
I've run a homebrew Quick Flash 128 (easily built but you gotta have
the kernal ROM/s) and a pair of SFD 1001's for years.

You may try thrift stores or garage sales in order to get those prices.
You may get lucky here if someone is just throwing one away. Most folks
sell the 64 for at least $25.00-$35.00, then the drives are usually as much
or more than that. Good luck in your quest, you may need it. :)

Again, if your looking locally, try the thrift stores and garage sales.
:)

Then you won't be able to use the 64. Most Amiga RGB monitors do have
RCA jacks on the back as well as the 9 pin plug your refering to. The 64
would have to plug into the RCA jacks. A 128 will use the RGB port just
fine, but only in 128 mode. Plus the 128 will run you about twice what I
quoted the 64's go for above. Again, you may get lucky and find someone
giving one away, but don't hold your breath.. :)

Looking at those prices in comparison to the PC's of the time, they were
still good deals. Times may have changed, but the fact that the PC's are
still overpriced hasn't.

Yeah, right. Just like if we quit arresting murderers, they will just
dissappear. Get a clue..

We make our presence know because we would like to see future releases
from other companies. Of course you folks could care less and we all know
what you do in your little groups. Funny how proud you folks are about
ripping people off and going to jail.

Of course you do, or you wouldn't do it in the first place. :)

do it again...
We already know you have no consious or morality. I guess thats one
more thing to be proud of. Oh well, you may grow up one day, doesn't look
like anytime soon however.

If you have a Swiftlink or a simple RS232 adapter, then great. But
the stock Commodore outputs TTL levels on its user port, which is not
compatible with the RS232 voltages used by PC's. Since
Commodore-specific modems are a lot easier to find and cheaper than
the Swiftlink or RS232 adapter, it's a lot easier to just hook the
modems together.
