  67. `2Copying PCX Graphic from PC-DOS to CBM`
  68. If you have a PCX (PCX is a PC bitmap image)
  69. format graphic on a PC-DOS disk and you want to 
  70. view it on the C64 you will need a Graphics
  71. Viewer such as Godot for the C64.
  72. Proceed as follows to copy the Graphic:
  73. #    Start in the Copy Menu and choose the Copy
  74. Options and set up geoDOS with the following
  75. configuration:
  76.     `30D`40100    On the Translation Table you must
  77.     `30D`40101    set Graphic Files to be copied 1:1
  78.     `30D`40102    format so click the 1:1 Format Icon.
  79.     Click on the DOS > CBM option on the right
  80.     menu and set the following parameters:

  82.     `341Linefeed:`
  83.     `40200    Ignore
  84.     This option must be de-activated (blank box) or
  85.     all of the graphic will not be copied.

  90.     Choose 'Commodore PRG' as the filetype for
  91.     the target file.

  113. `30D`40101    screen to leave the Options function.
  114.     Choose the 'DOS ^ CBM Files' and select the 
  115. Source and Target Drives, then press OK. GeoDOS 
  116. reads the directory from the DOS disk and shows
  117. the selection box of files and directories. Choose
  118. the file you want (ending in '.pcx') and click the
  119. OK button. GeoDOS will begin copying the file. 
  120. Once the copying process is complete use the 
  121. Special Menu 'Call Basic' icon to exit to BASIC.
  122. Start Godot and use it to view the .PCX file. If
  123. you have troubles with GoDot please refer to the
  124. GoDot documentation.

  143. If you have a GeoPaint file and want to change 
  144. it to PCX format you will need a geoPaint to PCX
  145. converter. Proceed as follows to configure geoDOS
  146. to copy the file:
  147. #    Start in the Copy Files menu and choose the
  148. Change Options icon.
  149.     `30D`40100    On the Translation Table you must set
  150.     `30D`40101    Graphics Files to be copied 1:1 so press
  151.     `30D`40102    the 1:1 Icon.
  152.     From the Options menu on the right select the
  153.     'CBM ^ DOS' item and set the following

  158.     This option must be de-activated (do not check)
  159.     or the data will not copy properly.

  165.     should choose to enter a new name and then

  192. select the Source and Target Disk Drives from the
  193. selection box. Press OK to continue. GeoDOS will
  194. read the PC disk and list the sub-directories for
  195. you to choose, if any exist on the disk. Before the
  196. copying process begins you still need to set the
  197. PC-DOS filename. Make sure to include the '.PCX'
  198. extension. After that, geoDOS will begin copying
  199. the file.  To be able to process the files on the PC
  200. you will need a graphics processing program such
  201. as PaintBrush in Windows or another similar
  202. program.

  220. You are able to convert 90% of PC Texts directly
  221. into geoWrite documents. For this it is necessary to
  222. know which PC Character Set was used for the
  223. text because geoDOS is able to process three
  224. of the most common sets:
  225.     #    PC437
  226.     #    PC850
  227.     #    PCWIN
  228. The first two are pure DOS texts (created with EDIT
  229. under PC-DOS 6.x ) while the latter is a Windows 
  230. ASCII Text (created with "Write" in the Windows
  231. environment).
  232. In order to convert a PC text file into geoWrite
  233. please proceed as follows:
  234. #    Start in the Copy Files menu, choose the
  235. Change Options icon and set the following geoDOS
  236. options:
  237.     `30D`40100    Choose the Translation Table Icon
  238.     `30D`40101    (DOS => CBM Format) at the top of the
  239.     `30D`40102    Page to set the PC Character Set.
  240.         In this case you will select 
  241.         'PCWIN => GEOS-ASCII' so that the text
  242.         will be converted correctly.

  264. From the right side Options Parameter List choose
  265. the 'DOS ^ GeoWrite' option and set the following
  266. Parameters:

  271.     Choose the format here that you want your 
  272.     GeoWrite Documents to be created in. For text

  276.     Write Image V2.0 format.

  283.     necessary. The 'Reformat text' option is recom-

  357. files and press OK to start the copying process.
  358. Once the copying is finished you can choose
  359. 'Open GeoWrite' from the Special Menu to view
  360. your converted text. If the document is not shown
  361. properly then you have to go back and choose
  362. a different conversion table and do the conversion
  363. process again.

  380. GeoDOS is able to convert GeoWrite V2.0 and V2.1
  381. files into PC format text files. The program 
  382. understands three PC Character sets:
  383.     #    PC437

  386. The first two are pure DOS Texts created using EDIT
  387. under PC-DOS 6.x. The latter is a Windows ASCII

  479. process will begin.

  499. (BTX is a German online service similar to
  500. Earthlink) into GeoWrite documents it they
  501. were saved by the T-Online Decoder program
  502. using its F6 key.

  504. #    Start in the Main Copy Files menu and choose
  505. the Change Options icon to setup geoDOS with
  506. the following options:
  507.     `30D`40100    Choose the Translation Table option
  508.     `30D`40101    'BTX => GEOS-ASCII' to convert the 
  509.     `30D`40102    BTX Character Set to geoWrite.
