  7.       SCREEN COLORS:  
  8.      To most people background and text colors are a matter of
  9. personal preference, and those that normally appear when
  10. Multiplan is first booted are quite acceptable.  However, to
  11. users of black and white TVs or to Geneve or AVPC users with 80
  12. column monochrome monitors, changing screen colors can make a big
  13. difference in screen legibility.  Upon powering up the Multiplan
  14. module and before pressing <ENTER> to boot the Multiplan system
  15. disk, screen colors can be changed by pressing the space bar
  16. several times.  The first press does nothing.  Subsequent presses
  17. cycle through a set of predetermined colors.  One of these
  18. predetermined color combinations is black on white, which is
  19. usable with monochrome monitors. 
  20.      Multiplan powerup and "spacebar" color combinations are
  21. determined by the module and not by the Multiplan system disk.
  22. Thus, the only way to permanently alter the powerup color
  23. combinaton is to use a gram device such a P-Gram card or a Gram
  24. Kracker.  These all allow you to dump the Multiplan module to
  25. disk.  The powerup color combination is at byte >D1 of the first
  26. sector of the highest numbered Multiplan module disk file (the
  27. file that ends with the number 4).  If you load the unmodified
  28. Multiplan module files into a gram device and then use the
  29. device's memory editor, the memory location to change is g60CB.
  30. Changing either of these to "F1" will produce a white on black
  31. display that is perfect for monochrome monitors.

  33.       DATA DRIVE NUMBER:  
  34.      As Multiplan is initially set up, you are expected to use
  35. DSK1 for both the system disk and your data disks, switching
  36. disks as needed.  Instructions on page 13 of the Multiplan manual
  37. tell you how to temporarily change the data disk drive to DSK2 or
  38. DSK3.  This can be made permanent by using a sector editor (DISK
  39. PATCH of Funnelweb, or Birdwell's Disk Utilities are good for
  40. this) to change the second sector of the MPINTR file on the
  41. system disk.  In ASCII look for "DSK1" and change the 1 to
  42. the drive number you desire for use by your data disk.

  44.       PRINTER NAME:  
  45.      The original Multiplan system disk, when it is unpacked from
  46. the Multiplan box, sets Multiplan up for use by the TI impact
  47. priner, whose name starts with RS232.  The only way I know to
  48. change this printer name to PIO (or something else) is to use a
  49. sector editor and edit the same sector that is mentioned above
  50. (second sector of MPINTR disk file).  Look in ASCII for text that
  51. starts with RS232.  Change this to PIO and delete the rest of the
  52. original printer name with spaces.
