  9.      If you do alot of golfing, you will find this program a
  10. useful addition to your hobby.  It is written entirely in
  11. assembly, and can be easily used by those with only one SSSD
  12. drive without any disk switching.  There is plenty of room
  13. on one SSSD disk for the program and all needed data files.
  14. Although initially configured to boot from DSK1.LOAD, the
  15. Harrison Golf Analyzer can be configured to boot from any
  16. drive, ramdisk, or hard drive.  Once loaded, any screen can
  17. be printed any time by pressing FCTN/7.  Screens are printed
  18. in expanded pica.
  19.       
  20.      First you input data for EACH golf course you use, the
  21. course's name and rating.  The rating is number, obtainable
  22. from the golf course management, that corresponds to how
  23. well a group of really good golfers would do on the course.
  24. You then input the par for each hole. 
  25.       
  26.      Later you enter data for each round of golf you play.
  27. You enter the date, and for each hole enter the total score
  28. and number of puts.  You can also enter a comment for each
  29. round, such as "extra windy", or "rain soaked from the day
  30. before".   When you are satisfied that the round data is
  31. correct you press PROC'D to place the round in memory.  The
  32. computer then calculate your current handicap using the
  33. round you just entered plus the previous 9, as well as the
  34. following information for the just entered round: 
  35.      Par for entire course: 
  36.      Gross score (your actual score): 
  37.      Net score (gross minus handicap): 
  38.      Birdies: 
  39.      Eagles: 
  40.      Total puts: 
  41.      Pars: 
  42.      Bogies: 
  43.      Double Boogies: 
  44.      Total score and puts OUT (first nine holes): 
  45.      Total score and puts IN (last nine holes):

  47.      This information is calculated for each round entered
  48. and saved in a data file.  You can have as many as 360
  49. rounds in a file.  The formula for calculating your current
  50. handicap is "sum of gross scores for the ten most recent
  51. rounds, minus the sum of the ratings for the courses, times
  52. 9/10 rounded to the nearest whole number.  If there are
  53. fewer than 10 rounds in a data file the computer will
  54. calculate based only on the data available.

  56.      At any time you can view data analysis in various
  57. formats.  You can specify analysis based on only a single
  58. course, or all courses you play.  You can analyze  data from
  59. a single date, all data between a start and end date, or
  60. analyze the entire data file.  Asking for an analysis of
  61. more than one date gives you these choices: 
  62.      1. Full round display 
  63.      2. Quick summary 
  64.      3. Averages 
  65.      4. Best on hole. 
  66.       
  67.      Full round display shows all your data for every hole
  68. of every round, within the limits you have specified for
  69. dates and courses. 
  70.       
  71.      Quick summary gives you the calculated results for each
  72. round without displaying the individual hole by hole scores.

  74.      Averages gives these data for all rounds within the
  75. course and date limits you specify: 
  76.      Gross score 
  77.      Net score 
  78.      Puts 
  79.      Score IN 
  80.      Score OUT 
  81.      Puts IN 
  82.      Puts OUT 
  83.       
  84.      Best on hole displays the best score you ever made on a
  85. hole by hole basis based on the course and date limits you
  86. specify.  This only works when you specify a specific course
  87. for analysis.  What you get is your "dream round", your best
  88. possible game for that course based on what you have done so
  89. far.

  91.      This software comes with an extensive printed user's
  92. manual which includes many sample screen dumps.  You also
  93. get a sample data file.  Finally, you get a support
  94. telephone number.  It is not toll free, but if you call
  95. evenings you will be talking to the software author himself,
  96. Bruce Harrison.  I really appreciate this sort of voice help
  97. instantly over the phone.  (DIJIT systems, makers of the
  98. AVPC, provide the same service.)  Since I am not a golfer, I
  99. called twice during the preparation of this review in order
  100. to get information about golfing terminology (I didn't know
  101. what IN and OUT meant).    My questions were promptly
  102. answered.
